Black Milk Clothing is taking realistic body image to a whole new level this summer with their “Dem Guts” bathing suit—a suit with a print of the inner anatomy of the human body—guts and all!  It’s nice to see a clothing company which actually recognizes the fact that the women who will be wearing its products are human in every way (including some of the kind of weird/gross ways). Just a short time after we got wind that David Lynch had designed Kenzo’s eerie most recent A/W show, we find out he’s at it again. Love of my life and artist extraordinaire David Lynch is collaborating with the fashion world again, this time, in pursuit of making the ultimate women’s work out wear. Lynch and the luxury US brand Live the Process have worked together in order to debut Lynch’s six-piece collection that features corset bras, scoop bras with geometric leggings, natty pairs of shorts and T-shirts that read “Change Begins Within. Female nipples are as worthy of celebration as they are controversial. They have literally nursed life into new generations since the dawn of mammals, and yet in some states their exposure remains illegal. The viral #FreeTheNipple campaign has already made an impact in the way the world sees bare chests, as something human rather than pornographic, but a lot more still needs to be done. Luckily, Robyn and Michelle Lytle, creators of the TaTa Top, have taken the movement into their own hands. The TaTa Top is a bikini top with nipples and it’s nothing short of pure genius. Read More
I’ve been dyeing my hair since I was 10 years old. It's been just about every color imaginable- even green, and green is a tough hair color to rock. I also usually dye my hair myself since salons are so insanely expensive. I've collected more than a few tricks for achieving the perfect dye job over the years, so here are my top seven for all of you who are thinking about taking the color plunge.  1. Use a buddy! Dyeing hair, especially your own, is hard. Have a friend with you as backup to make sure you’ve applied the pigment evenly, especially the back and underside. Read More
Are you as sick of the endless lingerie search, foraging for a larger cup size that is not boring and/or overpriced? I wear a bra size 34F and let me tell you, finding a bra that is comfortable, supportive, and cute all for an affordable price is a true pain. The boutique stores with small lacy bras for smaller sizes just don't offer the kind of support larger breasts need and the large chains like Victoria Secret and Macy's are always throwing diamonds and bows all over everything. Also, I certainly can't afford the intricate bras from the stores specializing in larger breast sizes. Read More
Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker for nature-friendly labeling. Want me to buy something? Label it “Organic.” Want me to stop buying it? Tell me it’s filled with harmful chemicals.  This is why, when I first heard about the “no-poo” (no shampoo) hair-washing method of using baking soda and apple cider vinegar, I was intrigued. I realized that my computer truly knew me on the day that the internet started advertising exclusively novelty socks on every single website I visited... Although the image below is incredibly bizarre, the interwebs has clearly detected my love for awesome socks.  You may not know this, but socks are the secret superheroes of outfit-building. A good pair of socks can tie an outfit together, incorporating the varied colors into a unified whole. Or, a great pair of socks can be the highlight of an outfit.  Socks in the summer you ask? The answer is an unwavering yes. Read More
I was never one for binge-watching TV shows. That is, until I saw the first episode of Sex and the City on HBOGo. Needless to say, it sucked me in like a feathery Dior tornado, and to this day has not let go.  I may be a decade late to the game, but the outfits, like good cheese, only get better with age.   A few (okay, more than a few) episodes into one of my Sex and the City sprees, my brain started to short-circuit, and I started thinking about other shows from the nineties and how the women in them dressed. Yay Summer!!! It’s mid July, the sun is in the sky and it’s mad hot yo. I don’t know about you, but I’m super sick of that plain one-piece I've owned for decades and all the bedazzled swimwear in Victoria’s Secret. Read More
While there has already been one article about J.Crew’s new 000 size published on bust.com, I believe there’s more to discuss; in short, it’s time to unzip this issue a little further and see what unfolds (okay, no more clothing puns). Read More
