I was a Pan Am Stewardess!
When it comes to Halloween, I'm no Heidi Klum, but thankfully I was able to whip up a costume using most things I already own. I wore a blue vintage dress, a blue and red Sunline Airlines scarf, and a recently bought cape that actually matched perfectly.
What really made the costume though was my Pan Am bag! When I saw it at a vintage store, I knew it would be perfect for a costume or even just to lug around my computer. Read More
Every year, Heidi Klum throws an all-out Halloween bash and tries to top herself year after year in terms of costume intricacy. I kind of love when girls are unafraid to be not "pretty" in the name of an awesome Halloween costume and I love that for each costume, Heidi totally commits. This year, she's got two costumes in the works to be full revealed the Saturday before Halloween [updated above]. The first is some sort of monkey boy and the second is a cadaver from the "Bodies" cadaver exhibition. Check out some of her costumes from past years. Read More
There are a million fabulous fashion blogs I try to regularly read, but I must admit, I just discovered this gem of a blog yesterday via tumblr. She even has a helpful guide on how to wear them and what kind is needed for certain dresses. Read More
I didn't make it to as many CMJ shows as I would've liked, but I was able to catch the lovely singer Emmy the Great, who I've wanted to see for a while now, and Wild Moccasins, a Texas pop band I've missed seeing since moving from Texas to NYC. The two pictures above and below are Emmy the Great, who I was happy brought some glitter and sparkle to a daytime show. It's never too early in my book. I was also totally digging her patterned tights. Few people could make those prints go together so perfectly in color and pattern. Read More
I've seen costume ideas everywhere I turn from blogs and websites to magazines and movies. I've also seen and helped people put together some awesome looking costumes at the vintage store I work for as well. This year, I've decided to be a Pan Am stewardess. To be honest, I kind of already dress like a 60's stewardess or secretary most of the time so it's not too much of a stretch. I picked up a Pan Am bag recently and now I'm just trying to figure out a hat to pull it all together. I might end up making one out of construction paper or cardboard and felt. Read More
