While Mad Men won't be back till early 2012, if you're missing the fabulous style created by costume designer, Janie Bryant, fear not, you can still get a dose of it come August when her 65-piece collaboration with Banana Republic's creative director, Simon Kneen, emerges. Check out some of the looks below and my thoughts on some of the pieces.    I'm definitely digging the men's wear, I'm a sucker for a bow tie or sweater vest, but I'm not totally sold on the women's wear. I see the inspiration, but I definitely see more Banana Republic than "Mad Men. Read More
I was browsing this hilarious website "Dads Are The Original Hipsters". and what do I find? That's right. My parents. In a bar, rockin' flannels, and scarves looking too cool for school!   This website is gold, they take old pictures of Dad's back in the day, and write funny commentary mocking everybody and everything. If you're anything like me, you understand how amazing animals are. My dog is like my child,  I watch that video of the french bulldog that can't roll over on YouTube a little too much when I'm feeling blue, and I am always scouring the interweb for all things related to adorable animals. That being said, you can imagine my sheer delight when i discovered The Catorialist, yeah, that's right, a style blog about CATS. Mimicking the ultimate in serious street blogs, right down to it's format, this copycat is a hilarious take on feline style. Read More
I mentioned photographer Jamie Beck previously when I blogged about her fantastic CoCo Rocha cinemgraphs, but I didn't really get to talk about Jamie's photography blog itself, From Me To You. The photos are stunning and you really get a glimpse inside the world as she see it. My absolute favorite part though are her gorgeous inspiration shoots. She doesn't do outfit posts too often, but when she does, they are extra special. Under the "Daily Outfits" link on the side of her blog is the collection of  inspired looks she's created. Read More
Forever21 always kind of irked me for a variety of reasons: the sizes are strange and ill-fitting, they pretty much blatantly knock off designers,  and their bags have random bible verses on them, which can seem a bit pushy in my opinion. Now let's add one more reason to the mix..they can't take a joke! WTForever 21 (while it's still up) is a blog run by Rachel Kane whose purpose is to hilariously and endearingly poke fun at the franchise's more ridiculous items of clothing. Forever21 is now threatening to sue Kane over the website. Read More
This month, Vogue Italia has created a fabulous cover of curvy ladies for their latest June issue! Models, Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley all look the epitome of gorgeous gracing the cover and lovely Marquita Pring is added to the mix in other shots. The photos are both sexy and elegant. Although there’s sexy lady curves is the shots (remember the Superbowl/Lane Bryant fiasco?), the models still maintain a very high fashion, editorial feel throughout the pictures.  This cover is big, yet conflicting news for me. Blogger, Marlena, 17, is among the the fabulous teenage bloggers popping up over the past few years. With a shout out from the most well known of the bunch, Tavi of Style Rookie, Marlena's blog, Self Constructed Freak has been growing in popularity. Some of Tavi's recent posts actually seem to be taking some fashion cues from Self Constructed Freak. Marlena's mix of 80's punk and gothic, twee infusions makes her one of the most interesting bloggers out there. Read More
NYC Popfest was this past weekend and it was filled with fun, friends, pop songs, and dance parties. Amongst a sea of cardigans, glasses and plaid, a few pop kids pulled out all the stops from fancy dresses to YSL tees. The key was to be comfortable enough to dance like no tomorrow, but still put some effort in. Everyone looked adorable as ever. I'll soon be making a "Pop Bands to Look Out For" post, but for now enjoy the stylish attendees and band members of this year's NYC Popfest. Above are members of the band Tiny Fireflies and below, the singer of Dream Diary. Read More
From vendors to attendees, the BUST Craftacular crowd was indeed a stylish bunch. My head was turning every which way from fancy jewelry and vintage clothes to vegan treats and cupcakes galore, but once I looked away from the goodies, I noticed style everywhere! It was a gorgeous, sunny day and that brought tons of gals with bright, colorful dresses and cute, interesting accessories. Read More
Though her outfits are plain fabulous, Gala Darling is much more than just a style blog. She is a positive force of energy in the uncertain World Wide Web. Whether through her fashionable, fun ensembles or her Radical Self Love Series, "Love and Sequins" (sort of self help for those who hate "self help"), Gala Darling is one of the most positive forces out there. I like that she actually has fun with her fashion (sequins and glitter are always a plus!). My other favorite part is her "Things I Love Thursdays. Read More
