Because Crafters ROCK

BY Bette Bentley in DIY

AND because my throbbing blueballs hurt for this Sunday (the annual BUST Holiday Craftacular in NYC. DUH). These  blueballs can only be satisfied by sneaking online.  There, I look at a plethora of indie, handmade ware in the privacy of a dark bedroom.  Sweet relief. Until Sunday, at least, when I get to go all the way.  One of the crafters that really gets me going is Ink and Wit.  Her prints, notecards, and invitations are simply beautiful.  I can't wait to stalk her booth and buyout the whole holiday card series. I mean, polar bears AND penguins. Yes, please. Read More
Pillows for the People (you guessed it, another vendor at Bust's Craftacular!) is a New York based company started by Parisa Karimi, and is each pillow handmade by her.  Using vintage fabrics, these lavender filled pillows are really something special.   Some of her famous clients include Leo DiCaprio and Patti Smith.   These would make a lovely addition to any home.   Photo courtesy of Pillow by the People's website. Smell Pretty!

BY Intern Leala in DIY

I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for a cool, different scent to make me smell pretty, and especially after reading the latest issue of Bust, I've even considered making my own.  But now I don't have to!  Lollibomb Beauty is a "one chick indie business" that creates pretty fancy sounding scents.  TOBACCO ROAD, for instance, is made with fresh pressed tobacco leaves, mandarin, bergamot, and Italian neroli. Barking Maddison will be at this weekends Craftacular, and I've got to say, I'm glad.  Look at how cute these bags are!  Among other items handmade by Barking Maddison are leather belts and cuffs with personalized messages,  like lyrics or poems.  Items are made with vintage fabric and wallpaper.  They can be found on Etsy.com. But I claim this bag for myself!     Photo courtesy of Barking Maddison on Etsy. Read More

Down here at BUST headquarters, we're eagerly awaiting Sunday for the Craftacular. So to give you all a little taste of what to expect at this slammin' event, we're highlighting some of the goods that will be at this shindig.   The Hand of Fatima makes some fascinating products that seem kind of mystical and magical for the wearer. The Double Agent necklace could've belonged to a KGB spy in a past life. (It's rally a WWII observer's decoration, for you history buffs). The winged piece surely makes a statement. Read More
