Well I have been here in Austin for SXSW since Tuesday, but am just settling down at a computer now because there is SO much going on that I literally haven't had my hands free for a second! On Wednesday I went to a party at The Beauty Bar that showcased Mantler and Ben + Vesper, among others. The show was thrown by K Records, Asthmatic Kitty, Tomlab and Sounds Familyre. Think Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, think Ladies and Gentlemen the Fabulous Stains, and yes, think of the bio-pic The Runaways as well. All follow along these same lines. Read More

"When I saw Madonna in a corset for the first time, I was like, 'Hey, I did that first.' "
--Cherie Currie, lead singer of The Runaways, to the New York Times
The much anticipated Runaways biopic opens in New York this week. And it's cool that people are talking about them so much because, all Madonna-Runaways career comparisons aside (theirs-- short and somewhat managed, hers--long and self-propelled) they really did start something. And not only that, they handed it on. Read More
