When I heard that Bangs and The Need (two well-loved punk bands from the Olympia, Washington area) were reuniting to play a few shows as a benefit for a friend who had fallen ill, I bought my ticket right away. Too bad I live in New York and while a $15 concert ticket was no problem, the $400 plane ticket to Portland was a little harder to swing. I saw these guys play last night at Mercury Lounge and they were so awesome! Londons own Jim Jones Revue are the real deal, down and dirty Rock-n- Roll, all sweat and swagger. They are playing a handful of shows, if they come to your town, grab your wig and go see them!

Janelle Monae's "Tightrope" may have gotten 23 million fewer hits on YouTube than Katy Perry's "California Girls," but no CGI gummy bears were injured in the making of this video.
