Sometimes we get some interesting snacks in the office when we least expect them. Today we got a little hungry, so we ended up trying these freaky little things; more specifically, we tried the Chili Pumpkin Seed Crunch flavor of the Wonderfully Raw Brussel Bytes (made with real brussel sprouts!). Why not!  These... clusters... describe themselves as "nutrient packed bytes of goodness." "Goodness" is not usually what I care about in a snack, but it doesn't ... Read More

This time, they are luring youngsters to the polls with Lil Jon, Lena Dunham, Natasha Lyonne, and more, as well as the big, loud question: turn out for what? If you live in the L.A. area and you’re a fan of cocktails, rad ladies, and giving money to a good cause, you need to head over to Harvard & Stone tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 6th, at 9pm. That night, the ladies of Speed Rack—the national cocktail-making competition for female bartenders, which BUST profiled in our Aug/Sept issue—will be in town for a ridiculously fun charity event. 30 lady mixologists from across the country will converge to make Sailor ... Don’t see St. Vincent for its complex characters. Though the cast is promising (Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd and Bill Murray, to name a few), the movie is altogether disappointing. There are definitely no strong female characters to speak of, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the overwhelming lack of any multi-dimensional character, regardless of gender. I do recognize and applaud the fact, however, that the actors do the best with what ... Read More

Duncan (who is in serious condition as of today) is the first official case of Ebola diagnosed in the U.S. and if he lives through this, he may in in deep trouble with the Liberia Airport Authority for lying about his contact with the virus, before flying out of the West African airport. It is presumed that Duncan tried to help a victim of Ebola without knowing they were ... Read More
This is Dilys Price at 13,000 feet. With 82 years under her parachute, she jumped out of an airplane to save the charity organization she founded over a decade ago. She tweets Dylan Thomas quotes. "Daredevil Dilys" is my new role model. Price first took a leap at 54, around the same time she founded Touch Trust, a unique charity that “...promote[s] the development of an inclusive society through the provision of creative movement opportunities for those who ... I have to admit, it's a little difficult to write a review about someone I have admired and followed since I first got into stand-up comedy. I still remember the first time I saw comedian Sarah Silverman perform live back home at a show in Manchester, New Hampshire, and I knew all her jokes and delivery by heart so well I could say them along with her. I recently watched Silverman’s HBO special We are Miracles (released November 2013) before ... Read More
Is Jeff Goldblum  angling to be the next beloved-by-hipsters eccentric movie star, a la Bill Murray? Perhaps. In addition to being a regular on Portlandia, and giving ex-BUST Interns moisties, Goldblum stars in this viral marketing campaign for "smart" GE lightbulbs, in which he proves that he knows how to turn up the ham to 11. Created by the brilliant comedy team Tim and Eric, the video takes Goldblum to the heights of Liberace-like kitsch,  with ... Read More
It seems like a given that a victim of sexual assault should never, ever have to pay for the tests and treatments that attempt to lessen the horror of her experience. Apparently, that is not the case in several states around the country, most noticeably in Louisiana. Recent victims who entered hospitals, like Interim LSU which recently became part of the private entity Louisiana Children's Medical Center, have received bills upwards of $2,000, sometimes ...
