I recently discovered the work of artist Theresa Honeywell, who made this fabulous pink knitted motorcycle cozy! Honeywell combines traditionally female crafts like knitting and embroidery with supposedly ''macho-man'' subjects such as biking, tattoos, fixing things with tools, etc. I like how Honeywell plays with gender stereotypes in a fun way and I have to say, if I ever went to someone's house and they just casually had a motorcycle in their garage with a pink knitted cozy on it, I think I would be in paradise. Twilight Moms

BY Laurie in General

Seems like every teenage girl in America is crazy for the Twilight books and the movie that's being released in a few weeks, a quick search of the internets and you will find thousands of fan sites for the sexy vampire Edward and his family of blood suckers. But what is it about this genre and especially this series that appeals to their moms as well? I found one site that was particularly fascinating, TwilightMoms.com , run by...wait for it... a Mormon mom who's 'life has been turned upside down' as a cause of the books. Read More
Even after an election week rife with the almost ethereal reality of change (save, of course, for these soul-crushing blows in California, Florida and Arizona), the story of one small-town Oregon mayoral race glimmers with a special sort of triumph. Silverton, Oregon, population 9588, has just elected America's first openly transgender-identified mayor. His name is Stu Rasmussen--and yes, he uses male pronouns. He's also been known to refer to himself as a heterosexual dude, albeit one with breast implants and a wild mane of auburn hair. Read More
