It's part of the ''Meet the Filmmakers'' series that Apple (in cahoots with indieWIRE ) is hosting as part of the Tribeca Film Festival. Portman will be speaking with Christine Aylward about the project, which is going to be ''a site that promises to transform the way people view, enjoy, and participate in entertainment.'' Texas Republican state Rep. Betty Brown suggested in a hearing last week that Asian voters should 'adopt' new monikers that are 'easier for Americans to deal with.' Oh, no, Betty. Noooooooo. An Equal Rights *woot*

More good news, marriage rights-wise. We all know that last week Iowa granted same-sex couples the right to marry. Now, Vermont has legalized gay marriage - the state legislature voted to override Governor Jim Douglas'; veto of the bill they had approved. Also, the District of Columbia is going to start recognizing gay marriages from other states as legal. Hopefully more states will follow suit. But I'm cautious about my optimism on an issue this divisive. Read More
