Exene Cervenka, singer of the seminal punk band X, sent out a statement via her website today: After some months of not feeling 100% healthy, I recently had some medical tests run and the prognosis is that I am suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. My Booklist is Poppin'

  The Summer Reading program at Brooklyn's Central Public Library is starting with a pop this Thursday, June 4th with a free block partyfrom 10-4:30. The main event will be, get this, hip hop star Lil' Mama reading to kids from 1030 to 11am. She'll also be speaking about her connection to Brooklyn, encouraging kids to read and signing autographs. Throughout the day there will also be entertainment on the Plaza including the Ringling Brothers, a Capoiera demonstration, a ballet and local band performances. Not to mention the ongoing balloon animals, face painting and arts and crafts. Read More

WET Productions is a non profit organization that produces feminist film, theater, television, events and education that challenges female stereotypes and advocates for equality.                                   Breast cancer awareness month may be a couple days behind us, but that's no reason to forget the cause that has united men and women around the world. The Save the Ta-Tas Foundation exists to increase awareness about the disease and funding to find a cure through the sale of adorable merch like the t-shirt worn by Kristin Bell, above. Normally we would cringe at a bumper sticker reading, 'Honk if you Heart Ta-Tas,' but we'll make an exception for items like boob lube for self examinations. Read More

We here at BUST are still reeling from the news that Dr. George Tiller was murdered yesterday in Wichita, Kansas while serving as an usher at the Lutheran Reformation Church. One of the few doctors in the country providing controversial late-term abortions, he was a longtime advocate for a woman's right to choose. Authorities are holding Scott Roeder, a 51 year-old man of Johnson County, Kansas as a suspect in the shooting. President Obama responded, giving a statement that read, 'I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. Read More
