Blu Blockers

BY Laurie in General

All of this Snuggie talk reminds me of one of the greatest commercial response raps ever, the one here for BluBlockers. If you spent any time in the 80's watching late night TV, you'll probably remember BluBlockers, they were really big unisex sunglasses that were supposed to block out the sun in some miraculous way, sadly I do not own a pair. They really should bring them back, I think they would do very well with the williamsburg crowd. Anyway this dude MC Dr. ... Read More

EFF YES, GIRLSCHOOL!

BY Mollie Wells in General

Every time I go on a VH-1 Classic kick (i.e. every weekend), I come away with some new obsession that annoys the crap out of my friends--like the time I meowed (yes, meowed) Dio's Holy Diver for three straight days. This weekend, thanks to a Metal Mania marathon and new music project that kept me shuttered away with my bandmates, I re-discovered Girlschool, a group of old-school metal chicks best known for their association with fellow Brits Motorhead. These girls ... Read More
The Bust office loves the snuggie. The above video by Mikey and Big Bob, DJs of Pittsburgh's Kiss 96.1 Freaks Morning Show, best illustrates why. Recently the New York Magazine fashion blog hosted a petty tirade against the hottest new revolution in lounge wear. I find their chief accusation, 'that the snuggie is not an item of apparel ' to be narrow minded and pompous. The NY mag commentators maintain that snuggies are an eyesore in public and should only be ... Read More
This design look familiar because this guy is everywhere. His name is Mike Perry and he is having an art show! The exhibit is called Found in Space and it will be held at Giant Robot from March 17th until April 8th. The opening reception is this Saturday (March 7th from 6:30 - 10). Mike Perry is one of my heros... though his designs look simple they are harder to create then they look... trust me my friends, I've tried. He really walks the line between high ... Read More
There are a few vodkas that are so good you don't really even want a mixer, Tito's Handmade is totally one of them. 12 years ago, Bert “Tito” Beveridge obtained the first permit ever issued to distill in Texas and racked up 19 credit cards to finance his handmade vodka dream. These days, Tito's Handmade Vodka is the fastest growing spirit brand in the America thanks to some very powerful word of mouth from people like you! It continues to win the most ... Read More
I swear this is not a Photoshop deception. Recently, an actual pink dolphin was spotted in our very own waters; down in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of New Orleans. The dolphin is actually albino, the proof is in its reddish eyes. Scientists don't know why it is pink... I like to think it is because it swam too close to a cupcake ... Read More

Vice interviews Ligerbeat!

BY Callie in General

Check out the Vice interview with the ladies behind Ligerbeat! Of course its got dick all over it so don't read it when your boss is standing behind you, unless of course your job is looking at dicks on the internet. I think we shined like a lubed up dick in the sun but you be the judge. We are poppin' these boners out very soon ladies. I've been in the dick cave everyday after I clock out of BUST trying to get this baby to the printer. I really hope people love ... Read More

Tracy Feith for Target!

BY Laurie in General

Now I know these Target designer duds are sometimes hard to get your hands on, so I'm giving you advance warning on the cute, vintage inspired line coming down the pipe on May 17th from Tracy Feith. I had the opportunity to chat with the charming and creative designer (with his surfer dude good looks!) at the press preview a few weeks ago, and he explained to me that he wanted clothes that looked like something you would find on your best vintage store score, but ... Coraline in 3D!

BY Laurie in General

I went to see the amazing 3D version of Coraline last night, and I loved every minute of it! Written by the very talented Neil Gaiman (look for an interview with him in next months issue), it tells the story of a feisty little girl that gets sucked into a nightmare world of scary dolls and witchy mothers who steal childrens eyeballs and souls. It's beautifully crafted out of what looks like the Rankin and Bass style claymation, and the 3D stuff is trippy! I also ... Read More

Beth Ditto: Designer!!

BY Lisa in General

Word on the street (and by street I mean Fashionista) is that Beth Ditto's line for the U.K. store Evans is coming out sooner than expected, maybe even March! I can't WAIT to see it. If the clothes she's created are anything like the ones she rocks, it will be a stellar collection. I mean just look at these two outfits! Totally different, totally awesome. How does she do it? left image via metromix, right image copyright PA ... Read More
