More Than A T-Shirt

BY Web Intern in General

When my copy of Megan Nicolay's new book, 'Generation T, beyond fashion, 120 ways to transform a T-shirt' (Workman publishing) arrived in the mail from her publisher, I thumbed through the pages while humming that song 'more than a feeling'. Submersed in over 300 pages of awesome craft ideas, all involving t-shirts and how to make them into better t-shirts, or even gloves and purses, the lyrics to the song stuck in my head quickly changed to 'more than a T-shirt'. MJ Goes Metal

BY Web Intern in General

If there's a silver lining to Michael Jackson's strange and sudden death, it's all of the MJ tribute artists exploding out of the woodwork. For example, DANGEROUS , the self-proclaimed 'All-Metal Tribute to Michael Jackson'. Thrillist blurbed these guys (adventurous members of Satanicide and 2 Skinny J's) as being 'a sparkle-gloved shred-fest' and, judging by the video from their live show (above), it's hard to categorize them as anything less. Remember Amy, one of the women featured in Strange Love: Married to the Eiffel Tower (a documentary that, several months ago, hit it big with curious YouTube viewers)? In the documentary, Amy identified herself as an objectum sexual, or a person who finds physically, emotionally, and sexually attracted to inanimate objects. Fans of the eye-opening documentary probably best remember Amy for her then boyfriend, a magic-carpet style amusement park ride called 1001 Nacht. Read More
Lynette 'Squeaky' Fromme, one of Charles Manson's most loyal followers, is to be released on parole on Aug. 16th after serving 34 years in prison for the attempted assassination of President Ford. Perhaps it was her baby face, or her quirky nickname, but for some reason I always had a soft spot for Squeaky.  She was not implicated in the Tate/LaBianca murders, but she did live at Spahn Ranch, carved a swastika on her forehead, and was involved tangenitally in other murders, oh and the part about shooting Ford was bad too. She once escaped from prison to try and see Manson. Read More
Parents everywhere can't agree how they feel about a new breastfeeding babydoll.  Bebe Gloton, developed by a Spanish toy company to promote breastfeeding, is a life-like toy that comes with a halter top with daises-for-nipples.  When the doll's mouth is put near the daisies, it makes sucking noises; if you take it away, it cries for more milk until you burp it. If you needed further proof that, by God, Bill Clinton's charisma gets the job done, look no further than this afternoon's exciting news that the American journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling have been pardoned and are hopefully soon to be released from their detainment in North Korea,  based on negotiations between Clinton and Kim Jong-il, leader of North Korea.     I'm delighted that the journalists will be released, of course, and that this might signal a renewed dialogue opening between the US and North Korea. After a New Jersey librarian campaigned for Ben and Jerry's to have a literary-themed ice cream flavor, LivingSocial's Visual Bookshelf joined in the fun by asking users on their Facebook page for their own suggestions. The suggestions that people have come up with so far are hilarious, but like the literary canon itself, very male-centric. That's why here at BUST, we decided to take the challenge one step further: to come up with ice-cream flavors inspired by some of girly/feminist literary classics. This post's title was thought up by our very own Bust editor, Debbie Stoller. Read More
