In a recent story published by The New York Times, 21 Yazidi females came forth with their tales of rape from Islamic extremists.  In the past year, over 5,000 Yazidis were kidnapped, while an estimated 3,144 are still in captivity. A 22-year-old trans woman of color (TWOC) found dead in a vacant field in Texas on July 29th has finally been identified as Shade Schuler. Schuler is the 13th trans woman murdered in the United States in 2015, meaning this year's total already exceeds the number of transgender women killed in 2014.  When found, Schuler was originally identified as a male. With help from Trans Pride Initiative’s Nell Gaither, though, authorities correctly identified Schuler as a trans woman, ending a two-week investigation. Read More

Target has decided to take another progressive leap by throwing out the “boys’” and “girls’” labels on toys, home goods, and entertainment items. Instead, they will switch to using the gender-neutral label “kids’” in these sections of the store. This decision comes after the store says customers raised concerns about unnecessary gender-based signs. Read More
