Summer is officially just around the corner! Memorial Day is this coming weekend and I want to make some fancy lady cocktails. We can do so much better than a case of cheap PBR. I’m not knocking cheap-ass beer here, but variety is the spice of life! Let’s make some Lavender Lemonade. I am no gourmet, but I do love a good infused vodka. You can DIY if you are going to have people over that you want to impress.  Here is an easy recipe for Lavender infused vodka. Substitute gin if you are feeling extra saucy. Read More

Our own N.Y.C. is a stop on the Bluth’s Original Frozen Banana Stand World Tour, and if you’re buy-curious about those bananas, I can tell you all about ‘em. This Monday, the Banana Stand was perched in front of the Rockefeller Centre in the middle of Manhattan. The line was up the block and around the corner, spanning two solid blocks around 6th Avenue and 49th Street. Read More

Americans love their hot dogs, and for good reason - they’re dang good at making them!   A perfect example is Snap Hot Dogs. They charcoal-grill their all-beef brisket hot dogs, giving them a delicious barbecue flavor. Husband and wife duo Zeph and Liz Courtney use artisanal pickles from Rick’s Picks and regional cheddar from Millport Dairy to add to the doggy goodness. Their relish and mayo dipping sauces are also made fresh and in-house.   And for all you vegos out there, Snap also makes panko crusted avocado fries or deep-fried pickle chips. GIVE ME SOME NOW.   You may have seen this awesome-looking truck around the city. Perhaps you have also tried the equally awesome curry puffs that come out of it. Or their signature Chicken Pad Thai. We are referring to Mamu Thai Noodle, one of the newest food trucks in NYC. The owner, New York native Siwat Thitiwatana, was inspired to start his own business after visiting his uncle in Thailand, who owns three noodle shops.  You can usually find Mamu around Brooklyn or on 27th street and Madison, but on Saturday, May 4th, they will be parked at the BUST Craftacular and Food Fair. Hellz, yeah. Read More
Nothing's more fun than jammin' out with the girls of the Jam Stand. The Brooklynites combined forces to concoct a variety of delicious, all-natural jams that prove "packaged food doesn't have to mean processed food." The ladies are creative in and outside of the kitchen, with jams like "You're My Boy BLUE-berry Bourbon Jam," which includes fresh blueberries, sugar, pectin, and bourbon, and vanilla to produce a sweet, tasty spread. If you've got a taste for spice, try the "Razzy Gabby & a Side of Jalapeño Jam," a perfect, saucy mix of raspberries, jalapeño, and lime. Read More
Although cereal isn't the healthiest of breakfast options, this recipe helps bring some nutrition to the table. (Literally! HA.) I knew I had to have these when I read that this chef was inspired by Momofuku Milk Bar, one of my many bakery obsessions and one that specializes in delectable cereal milk. When crushing up the cereal, I suggest pouring it into a Ziploc bag and just breaking it up with your hands. (Or, as the recipe says, you can try a food processor.) You can use any cereal you like, and you just need a few ingredients and a side of fruit to make it a hearty morning meal. Read More
OMG it FINALLY feels like springtime here in N.Y.C.! Yesssss! That means I’ve officially retired my parka for the season, have resumed stealing my boyfriend’s hoodie as outerwear, and am now salivating over salads instead of the soups and stews that got me through the colder months. Truth be told, I wasn’t always a salad person. I was one of those vegetarians who basically lived on different iterations of starch and cheese. And then when I went vegan, I moved heaven and earth in search of the most succulent veggie meat sandwiches. Read More
Everyone in a city where there is a Ben & Jerry's (meaning LOTS OF PLACES ALL OVER THE WORLD), STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING. TODAY IS THE BEAUTIFUL DAY THAT HAPPENS EACH YEAR IN WHICH THIS HALLOWED INSTITUTION BESTOWS FREE ICE CREAM UNTO THE GRATEFUL PUBLIC. And oh god, could there be a better day for this to happen? New York is about to experience its hottest day of the year so far, and all of us at BUST are already dreaming of beaches. Even if the weather's not as perfect wherever you are, this is a perfect excuse to take a break and chill with some FREE ICE CREAM. Read More
Nothing says summer like homemade lavender ice cream! I saw this recipe and lost my ability to even. I remember once when I went to a lavender farm in the South and experienced uber-refreshing, homemade lavender lemonade. Sipping that stuff on a hot July day in a rocking chair on the front porch of the farmhouse seemed like a dream at the time. As it turns out, homemade lavender ice cream is an equally yummy treat to beat the heat. (I'm a poet and I didn't realize it!) Combine red and blue food dye to add a special splash of color to this cool dessert. Read More
