  Ahhh…Thanksgiving, the first link on the proverbial winter holiday chain of events.  A time when biological families and selective families gather round to indulge in gluttony in it's most jovial form, and scroll down the list of people, places and things they are so grateful for.  Personally, my turkey day traditions have gotten a little stale over the years.       I just got this amazing book today called Show Dogs; A Photographic Breed Guide; photographed by one of my favorite photographers Kate Lacey (who's talents you can see in the upcoming issue of BUST Magazine, stay tuned). Its chock-full of amazing canines from every end of the pooch spectrum. These portraits of purebreds come straight from the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, where Lacey rigged up a seamless backdrop backstage. She does an amazing job of capturing each breeds particular personality, from the noble Siberian Husky to the goofy Bulldog. Read More

In just a little over a week, BUST will be hosting a giant BUST Magazine Craftacular at the World Maker Faire at the old World's Fairgrounds. I’m not sure how many of you had the unfortunate experience of being shipped off to camp for a few weeks out of the summer, but for me the trauma lingers on like the scent of insect repellent and sweat after a half dozen games of Capture the Flag. People like to gang up on Brooklyn based writer Tao Lin and I'm not sure why. The comment sections following online reviews of his books are often as entertaining as the books themselves. As I'm writing this review, I almost can't wait to check in a bit later to read the comments (if any) left here, and defend this writer who I find to be, if at all annoying, annoyingly honest. Lin's 6th book and 2nd novel, Richard Yates (Melville House), gave me palpitations while reading it because it pretty accurately describes what a "normal" relationship is like for people these days.
