Nothing's more fun than jammin' out with the girls of the Jam Stand. The Brooklynites combined forces to concoct a variety of delicious, all-natural jams that prove "packaged food doesn't have to mean processed food." The ladies are creative in and outside of the kitchen, with jams like "You're My Boy BLUE-berry Bourbon Jam," which includes fresh blueberries, sugar, pectin, and bourbon, and vanilla to produce a sweet, tasty spread. If you've got a taste for spice, try the "Razzy Gabby & a Side of Jalapeño Jam," a perfect, saucy mix of raspberries, jalapeño, and lime. Read More
Although cereal isn't the healthiest of breakfast options, this recipe helps bring some nutrition to the table. (Literally! HA.) I knew I had to have these when I read that this chef was inspired by Momofuku Milk Bar, one of my many bakery obsessions and one that specializes in delectable cereal milk. When crushing up the cereal, I suggest pouring it into a Ziploc bag and just breaking it up with your hands. (Or, as the recipe says, you can try a food processor.) You can use any cereal you like, and you just need a few ingredients and a side of fruit to make it a hearty morning meal. Read More
OMG it FINALLY feels like springtime here in N.Y.C.! Yesssss! That means I’ve officially retired my parka for the season, have resumed stealing my boyfriend’s hoodie as outerwear, and am now salivating over salads instead of the soups and stews that got me through the colder months. Truth be told, I wasn’t always a salad person. I was one of those vegetarians who basically lived on different iterations of starch and cheese. And then when I went vegan, I moved heaven and earth in search of the most succulent veggie meat sandwiches. Read More

Nothing says summer like homemade lavender ice cream! I saw this recipe and lost my ability to even. I remember once when I went to a lavender farm in the South and experienced uber-refreshing, homemade lavender lemonade. Sipping that stuff on a hot July day in a rocking chair on the front porch of the farmhouse seemed like a dream at the time. As it turns out, homemade lavender ice cream is an equally yummy treat to beat the heat. (I'm a poet and I didn't realize it!) Combine red and blue food dye to add a special splash of color to this cool dessert. Read More
If you’re a Beastie Boys fan, chances are you know how much the boys like food. And what’s “cheaper than a hot dog with no mustard”? FREE. In response to Hurricane Sandy's devastation of the Rockaways, Beastie Boy Michael "Mike D" Diamond and his restaurateur friend Robert McKinley have partnered with the local community to bring the Rockaways free food. Mike D told GOOD, “Rob and I went out [to the Rockaways] very shortly after Sandy. We saw right away all these people living without any power, without any businesses being open, and therefore, no food. Read More
Life at BUST HQ is already pretty sweet, but never more so than when we find a large shipment of ice cream at our door. The folks at Figo! Organic Gelato were nice enough to send us pints of their gelato to try out, and we were all too eager to take them up on the offer. Figo! is a brand new ice cream that "use a proprietary slow-churn process to create an ideal mixture of low air and butter fat, which lends to the gelato's smooth, creamy and rich texture while creating under one-tenth of a percent of product waste, and a lower fat, premium product. With warmer weather comes a season of colorful, cool treats to make. It's still early on, so let's keep it simple. These "jigglers" (AKA itty-bitty gelatin desserts) only require three ingredients and three steps! I'm not usually one for "mini-desserts," but these guys are simultaneously scrumptious and adorable so I fell for 'em. Sweet, bite-sized, and easy to make, what more could you ask for in a spring recipe? What you’ll need:  12 oz gelatin, any 4 different flavors, divided1 cup boiling water, divided24 oz low-fat vanilla yogurt, divided What you’ll do: 1. Read More
I know, I know, Easter is over. But making root beer in cupcake form is a year-round affair! Or at least, it is now. Plus it's finally kind of warming up, which means I start to crave soda-like beverages even more intensely, and what better way to celebrate spring than with cupcakes? As if you needed more reasons to try this, the cake batter is a mixture of chocolate and root beer. Reminds me of Cracker Barrel's infamous Coca-Cola Cake recipe, which is another combination of my favorite things. Pro tip: the key to creating extra root beer-y cake is root beer extract. Read More
Hummus is a pretty big deal here at BUST HQ. In an office full of varied tastes and dietary restrictions, a tasty chickpea dip is always a featured crowd pleaser at all our birthday celebrations and intern-last-day parties. And if our crowded staff fridge is any indication, a few of us are definitely toting in samples of Sabra and tubs of Trader Joe’s at least twice a week. As easy as it is to buy, however, northing beats the flavor of fresh, homemade hummus. Read More
