NC Republican State Representative Pat McElraft filed an anti-choice bill claiming the focus was to primarily create jobs. Her explanation? Fewer abortions equals more "little taxpayers" which somehow helps jobs, right?  The bill triples the state's waiting period for medical care from 24 hours to 72. It requires that only an OB-GYN perform an abortion; it also keeps faculty and students at UNC Chapel Hill and East Caroline University from supervising said abortions. This equates to two of the country's best medical schools being unable to provide future OB-GYNs proper training. Read More
After being found unconscious in a freezing Winnipeg river, having survived a near-lethal assault, 16-year-old Rinelle Harper made an influential appearance at the Assembly of First Nations. Rinelle Harper is the victim of, unfortunately, one out of the many violent attacks that happen yearly against aboriginal women. While she was being hospitalized, her family granted the police homicide squad permission to release her name to the public to search for any information about the assault. Soon after, the police arrested two men and charged them with attempted murder. Read More
At 583 Park Avenue last Wednesday, a group of about 350 people sat at round tables under the high ceiling and massive chandelier. The crowd, which was mostly women, chatted abut their lives, made introductions, and talked about the state of affairs in Afghanistan as they munched on chicken and vegetables.
