If only we could all just crawl back into the ground and sleep for a month and a half. Groundhog jerk.

As Thanksgiving approaches, it is difficult not to get wrapped up (badabing!) in preparations and endless phone calls with the folks. Or if you’re like many of my friends in NYC, you might be preoccupied with finding a way to make the Holidays special even though you will be working like a champ. It’s easy to pass by puffy outerwear in the post-holiday mess that is retail stores these days, deeming it tacky or unflattering. I’ll admit that I’m still not a huge fan of the bubble jacket. But next time you see a marshmallow-y vest, I challenge you to try it on and still believe it’s not worth the warmth. If you find the right one, puffer vests can be cute AND incredibly comfy. I encourage the oversized puffer vest, like the one ... Read More

Vaute Couture, the super stylish coat maker, has unveiled its new coats for this winter: a collection of vegan and fair trade coats that are made of eco-friendly and sometimes recycled materials. The coats are a bit pricey (from about ... Read More

When my friends from high school moved to the East Coast for college, they were most horrified by winter. "Why did people settle there?" My friend once asked when discussing New York. "It's uninhabitable!"
It's not that my hometown, San Francisco, is the tropical paradise people assume of a California locale. Perpetually autumn-temperature, SF experiences a winter rainy season and brief Indian summer and lots of low-lying fog. As a kid, my East Coast-born ... Read More
