Why is it so intriguing to peek into the past? Think about how much time you spend flipping through old family albums, vintage pictures in shops or garage sales, or - dare I say - Facebook albums of yesteryear. To me it’s clear: old photos are magic. There's some universal connective tissue between our world and the world before us, and photos are a fast way into the past.
In these photographs from Life Magazine, you find hints of places ... Read More
One of my favorite bloggers, Izzy of YeYe Style, has recently put out a fabulous lookbook for her vintage shop, Yeye Vintage. Shot by my talented friend Mary Elam, the lookbook is pure flower power chic. Most of Izzy's items are vintage, but a few special looks were created by hand, such as the psychedelic two-piece below and the blue floral printed dress called "the Rosemary dress" She also designed the earrings, which are available in limited quantities. I'm ... Read More

Wildwood considers her sound “weird pop” and says “Chick Chick Boom” is “a breakup song, it’s a song of being fed up and not feeling like you can do it again.” I'm not sure ... Read More

Like many of my underemployed and vintage-loving peers, I spend a somewhat absurd amount of time and money on Etsy. Whenever I’m in need of a one-of-a-kind gift, keepsake, or outfit, this vintage and handmade marketplace is always where I begin my search.
Never do I appreciate Etsy more than during the holidays. The site is a veritable treasure trove of unique gifts and fabulous holiday ensembles. And the fact that I can do my eclectic/vintage holiday ... Read More

We're obsessed with this jam here at BUST HQ. Thrifting! Highly danceable beats! Footed onesies! Children! Fur rippling through the air in epic slow-mo! What's not to love? It already has 25 million hits on Youtube! How did we not know about this until last week? What is wrong with us? Now we need to listen to it every day just to make up for lost time!
This IS fucking ... Read More
Do you like 60s-era tunes? Do you like music videos? Do you enjoy things that are awesome? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you’ll need to head directly to Scopitones.com. For the uninitiated, Scopitones were the precursors to music videos—these short flicks were created in the 1960s to be played on specially made video jukeboxes in bars, restaurants, and amusement parks.
Too weird to live and too cool to die, ... Read More
November is my favorite time of the year, from pumpkin-spice everything to the gluttony of Thanksgiving and, of course, my birthday! When it comes to the holiday season, I love buying presents for others (and for myself!), so I thought I'd put together a collection of some of my favorite items of the moment, many from adorable Etsy shops I recommend exploring. Hopefully they can give you ideas for Christmas shopping to come!
My first items are these fanciful, ... Read More

Last night, after Mitt Romney made a comment about “binders full of women,” social media took the unintentionally hilarious phrase and ran with it - a tumblr has already been created.
ln keeping with Romney’s idea that women are simply stored in paper documents, Brainpickings has posted a list of twelve rules dated 1943 (possibly found in a binder somewhere) that any decent woman should follow.
Women shall not appear on the ... Read More
