Warning: This four minute time-lapse video with original music might get you teary-eyed. Dutch artist Frans Hofmeester filmed his now teenage daughter, Lotte, for 15 seconds every week since she was born, and sped it up to give us a condensed look at the process of growing up.
Portrait of Lotte shows Hofmeester’s daughter’s transformation from a baby to a young woman. It displays her raw emotion from week to week—sometimes cheerful, sometimes upset or angry, and oftentimes chatty. Read More

You’re having a great time chatting with friends, when suddenly someone says something off-handedly sexist, spurring you into a feminist rant that is awesome but probably not very helpful. Or you don’t say anything, and these kinds of subtle comments or jokes just keep happening. Sound familiar?
We’ve been there, too. Though it’s important to surround yourself with friends whose values line up with your kickass progressiveness, no one’s perfect—we’re all capable of saying something insensitive or offensive. Read More

This past year, we’ve seen substantial progress toward empowering rape survivors to come forward, but it is no secret that the process is still a blame-and-shame game—a long and arduous process that rarely results in justice. Victims, who have already gone through unimaginable trauma, are forced to endure hours of questioning and physical examinations. This is, of course, necessary in investigating any crime, but rape is very often not given the serious treatment it deserves. Read More

There's nothing like dropping the "you're a feminist" bomb on somebody when they believe they are not, and then seeing their eyes go wide when they realize, wow, they actually are feminists! That's what this short inspiring Upworthy video accomplishes when interviewing men about what feminism means to them.
Luckily, feminism is slowly gaining traction, and we’re pretty hopeful about its future as societal credo. But for some, the antiquated stereotype of a feminist still dominates; hairy, braless, angry women looking for a fight. Read More

After passing a series of tests, this housewife was deemed “normal” and was instructed to drink a glass of water containing a minuscule amount of acid. Her experience was filmed at the time and has recently resurfaced on YouTube.

Whether it’s a carton of chocolate ice cream at 2am or instant oatmeal from a coffee mug before work, we’ve all been there. Either we're too busy or too lazy to bring our dish of leftover Thai fried rice from the kitchen to the couch. Instead, we fumble and flail around our tiny kitchens forking at our lukewarm spaghetti, and the only thing you’re doing that resembles manners is sticking your chin out over the sink to avoid getting marinara sauce on your already-wrinkled shirt.
These are our private moments, not our worst but certainly not our best. Read More

The BUST crew loves the popular podcast Serial! From debates over potential theories to our favorite lines from narrator Sarah Koenig and her assistant Dana Chivvis, Serial tends to come up a lot (less that crafts and definitely less than cats, but more than say… the weather).
Anyway, a video parody for the now famous podcast has hit the Internet and we can’t stop watching! The creators of the video (SubmissionsOnlyTV) get the tone of Koenig down perfectly, and while the crime in the parody may not be as hard to solve, it is full of laughs and for that, we are thankful. Indie darling duo She & Him is back to cover the Dusty Springfield 1964 classic "Stay Awhile" in the premiere of their new video out on Vevo today. The music video, directed by CANADA, begins with M. Ward picking up his invisible guitar and plugging it into his matching invisible amp. Zoey Deschanel appears in a dreamy blue dress, singing to her ghostly lover as he pulls her off her feet to dance. They spin and twirl around the house, which seems trapped in the 1960s, as Ward plays along. Read More
