The movement got started when Amelia Bonow shared her abortion story on Facebook after learning of the House of Representative’s vote to defund Planned Parenthood. Lindy West took Amelia’s story to Twitter with the hashtag #ShoutYourAbortion, shared her own abortion story, and with the help of a few “co-conspirators” including Kimberly Morrison, a viral hashtag was born.
