If you’re like me, then you love when artists put a new spin on the classic Disney princesses. We’ve seen them super sexualized, with beards, and even fused with Orange is the New Black characters. The newest Disney princess art might be my favorite, though.
Tumblr artist, TheNamelessDoll, reimagined some of our favorite princesses as plus-sized, but instead of simply illustrating them this way, she created some impressive GIFs that actually bring the princesses to life. Read More

It’s not exactly a secret that teen film—and really, the entire film industry—has a major whitewashing problem. Think of the protagonist of any popular teen movie: are they white? Almost definitely. Some Tumblr users who are also major Harry Potter nerds decided to combat this representation issue by creating a Harry Potter fanzine, its characters entirely people of color. (After all, the characters’ races are rarely specified in the books.) You can buy it on Etsy, and the results are charming and totally awesome. Check out some of the images below. Read More

As far as meme-worthy flubs go, Mitt Romney’s “Binders Full of Women” moment was pretty much the crème de la crème. Inspiring a multitude of glorious homemade Halloween costumes, not to mention the EPIC Tumblr account, it has unfortunately gathered a bit of dust in the sphere of popular culture. But fear not, for there is plenty of misogyny and covert sexism to fill the binder-shaped void. Read More
Bad news for anyone who still uses their velvet-embossed, rainbow-colored Lisa Frank pencil case: The Lisa Frank corporation is not “upset so much as disappointed” that Frank’s artwork has been co-opted by the Feminist Lisa Frank blog, which is obviously an awesome explosion of bright colors, kittens, and female empowerment.
The Lisa Frank Corporation has a history of messy PR: Jezebel ran a story about “the rainbow gulag” and the abuse of Lisa Frank HQ workers a bit back, and now Lisa Frank, Inc. Read More

Yes that’s right, Facebook has created a 'feeling Fat’ emoji option. As you may already know, when you post your status, Facebook gives you an option to show to your friends (the world, Mark Zuckerberg, etc.) just how you feel in that moment. They even allow you to create your own if the 120 options they give you do not fit your particular mood at that time.
However, this double-chinned emoji has raised quite a few other feelings on Facebook and outside of it. So many that an official petition on Change. Read More

As we stumble into the beginning of yet another year, we are bombarded with list after list of what to look forward to in 2015 on our Facebook, Pinterest, and Tumblr accounts. I don’t even want to talk about it.
I am an anxious person who enjoys pop culture. So, when a new year comes along, instead of being excited about new TV shows and movies and books, I get upset, because I am now even further from all the things I have yet to watch and listen to and read. Read More
