Hannah Horvath and her friends have it rough—they’re college-educated, financially supported, and so, so white (maybe not for long).  And in a Saturday Night Live sketch that aired during this weekend’s season premiere, the Girls girls have a new roommate with whom to compete in their weekly misery poker: Blerta. Tina Fey plays Blerta, a poor Albanian refugee with OCD (Old Cow Disease) who puts Hannah’s problems into perspective—“Honestly, your life is, like, so much more interesting than mine. Read More
Oh, you didn’t hear? Tina Fey is hosting SNL’s 39th season premiere with awesome musical guest Arcade Fire. And judging by the promo, the episode looks simply divine. In the video, she admits that she is super excited and rejoices in her friendship with colleague Kenan Thompson. They even engages in a little dirty talk about the number 39, although it turns out to be more disturbing and hilarious than sexy. Parodying an Emmys wardrobe malfunction, Tina even forgets to wear her shirt to the shoot and bares all. Read More
Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm held an exclusive-but-not-too-exclusive Emmys after-party this past Sunday night. The guest list: everyone who lost. Poehler, comedic genius, and Hamm, master of all things brooding, have garnered 9 and 11 nominations respectively over the years but have no winged paperweights to show for it. Still, the Losers Lounge, as they called it, sounds a lot cooler than any party you’re planning to attend this week, complete with other loser-guests like Elisabeth Moss, Fred Armisen, and Jimmy Kimmel.   We all know our girls Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are today’s queens of humor, satire, and hilarious social commentary that deals with women’s issues. But who did this kind of work before them? What female comedian was around for the Women’s Liberation and all that cool stuff? Why, Carol Burnett, of course!   And now Fey and Poehler have the chance to honor this iconic lady by presenting her with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, the most prestigious humor award around.     Remember when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the Golden Globes? Let me jog your memory: it felt kind of like it did when the cool, older kids let you hang out with them after school. The duo was laugh-out-loud hilarious and totally down to earth. They turned the long, potentially boring award show into a night of spicy jokes and tomfoolery.    The bad news: they indicated that they didn't plan on a repeat performance. NBC, thankfully, is refusing to take “no” for an answer, and the network cautiously extended an invite to the duo. Read More
The Hollywood Reporter wrote yesterday that the 30 Rock creator and comedic HBIC has gotten back together with 30 Rock teamsters Matt Hubbard and Robert Carlock for a new comedy that has put networks in a bidding frenzy. Sounds like music to your ears? Keep reading: The as yet untitled comedy would take place at a women’s college that has just recently started accepting men. Prediction: hilarity ensues. Read More

I’m totally in a glass case of emotion right now. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are making a cameo in the sequel of Anchorman, along with pretty much everyone and their mom. Recent pictures feature the two ganging up on Sasha Baron Cohen, with crow bars, no less. Is the former Weekend Update duo partaking in the news anchor rumble to end all news anchor rumbles? Here's to hoping. It’s good to see some ladies crashing the boys club at the Channel 4 News Team. Fellow Saturday Night Live alum Kristen Wiig is also set to appear as Brick's love interest. Read More
