Like many people in every corner of the world, we were pretty gutted when Jon Stewart announced his retirement from The Daily Show yesterday. It really speaks to how beloved and talented someone is when 16 years at the same job just doesn’t seem long enough. You’re probably most familiar with Aasif Mandvi from his work as The Daily Show’s “Senior Foreign-Looking Correspondent,” “Senior Muslim Correspondent,” and “Senior Brown Correspondent.” On that show, he’s managed to get a GOP chair to admit he’s a bigot (the man later resigned),make a Fox commentator look a fool, and all while maintaining a steely—and hilarious—composure. Showing how completely ordinary harassment is, Williams brings a camera along on her way to work. She gets catcalled by construction workers and a security guard. Just like Williams, getting the horny clap of approval from any guy does not improve my day, it actually creeps me out. So guys, get some impulse control, cause I got some shit to do. Read More
Apparently some guys still think it's okay to clap at women on the street, as if it's a classier way to catcall. "It's not harassment! It's appreciation!" they cry. Well, we won't accept that answer and we call shenanigans. Jessica Williams is all too familiar with this brand of bullshit and on The Daily Show last week, she made it known this behavior is unacceptable.   "Our walk to work is not there for him to comment on. It's not a red carpet, it's not a Fashion Week runway, it's a sidewalk. Read More
