Nothing says summer like homemade lavender ice cream! I saw this recipe and lost my ability to even. I remember once when I went to a lavender farm in the South and experienced uber-refreshing, homemade lavender lemonade. Sipping that stuff on a hot July day in a rocking chair on the front porch of the farmhouse seemed like a dream at the time. As it turns out, homemade lavender ice cream is an equally yummy treat to beat the heat. (I'm a poet and I didn't realize it!) Combine red and blue food dye to add a special splash of color to this cool dessert. Read More

I’m a big vintage photo collector, so I was pretty jazzed when I found a whole basket of late 1930s photos hidden away at a local antique store. This particular bunch of images all appear to be from the same group of friends and family--snapshots from summers together between 1936 through 1938. While the hot days keep getting hotter, these photos are a perfect source of inspiration on how to look cute and still stay cool. They’re also an adorable glimpse into some of the happy moments of these ladies’ and gents’ lives together--not to mention a great look at everyday 1930s fashion. Read More
John Lennon famously said, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” That’s beautiful, but to me, life is more like what happens between thinking about what I will be eating next. And so, on that note, whether you’re killing time dreaming of what you’ll be eating on your lunch break or where you’ll be stopping for dinner on your way home, here is a list of items that look like scrumptious food to fuel your imaginations and whet your appetites. You run up the stairs before you go to bed instead of walking. You hear a creaking noise and you hold your breath. You spin around far too quickly when you're raiding the cabinets for a snack because you sense someone behind you. There's no one there. Why do you feel so creeped out in your own house?
I don't know if you have ever felt this weird sense of fear in your own home, but I know that I have. I know that it's inexplicable, that there's no real reason to be afraid. Read More

Summer means a lot of things: pools, slip n' slides, cook outs, struggling to install that window AC unit, and ultimately, vacation. Whether it's the days you take off from your 9 to 5 to vegetate in your bed watching Netflix, an escape to Europe, or a trip to the Jersey shore, vacation is a staple for summer.
If you plan to escape to the wilderness for your vacation, you're going to need a baller tent to shelter you from the elements. Allow us to suggest Field Candy tents. These tents are way more spacious than regular two-person tents, with enough space for a "lobby" to dry damp items. Read More

If you've ever been on the internet or watched TV past 10 PM, you know there are sexy, hot singles in your area just itching to talk to you...for a price. Just because you’re on the beach, that doesn’t mean you need to dress like a bum. Super comfy and chic, caftans are not only the perfect bathing suit cover, but they can also be easily dressed up for a night on the town.
Making your own custom caftan is a breeze. Get a breathable, cotton fabric that’s 60" wide, and measure from your shoulder down to your desired caftan length; double this measurement, adding 1/2" for the hem. Cut the fabric to the desired length, then fold in half so right sides are touching, pin the edges together, and iron down the fold. Read More
