I didn’t know that I needed a bejeweled pineapple turban until now. Or, better yet, a minature coconut tree hat. Luckily, Tami Bar-Lev has provided the world with both, along with many other surreal and headpieces. You haven't seen high fashion until you've seen a sparkly fish wrapped in newspaper and draped over someone's eye. And if you're a bride-to-be sick of veils and tradition, she does wedding fascinators, too! Yay! There’s a fine line between absurd and awesome, and the Tel-Aviv based milliner seems to be tap-dancing all over that line. Read More
It's almost summer, which is the perfect time to share this adorable, Coney Island lookbook from designer Julie Mollo. Mollo is one of my favorite independent designers. She's cute as a button and her style reflects that as she designs whimsical circle skirts and bold accessories for girls unfraid of colorful fashion. Created to showcase her circle skirt line, this lookbook is perfectly summer-ready and the skirts are so cute, it's hard to pick just one. My little sister, who is graduating high school this year, has been trying out new styles of makeup and also wants to dye her hair blue. She says that this is all in preparation for college. In a more brooding tone, she confesses "I feel like I care a lot about how I look... Is that bad?" In high school, clothes and style seem to be indispensable to one's self-worth, from the hairstyle to the shoes. Read More
How freaking SWEET does this woman look? Tesnim Sayar, 21, is an art student in Denmark who started designing her own rebellious Muslim clothing and accessories after she bought a spiked bracelet when she was 12. Since then, she’s combined her religious garments with her goth-punk style and rocks handmade headscarf mohawks as well as plaid, piercings, and chains. Her creative take on traditional garb could be controversial to more orthodox Muslims, but Sayar doesn't see any conflict between her style and beliefs. “I am Muslim. I like my religion, I like my scarf. Read More
Andrea Diodati’s Fall 2013 collection, titled The White Fall, is a collection made up of cotton candy separates and sugary sweet styling. In NYC’s lovely All Souls Chapel, the scene was set with sparkling lemonade, pink cotton candy via Handsome Dan’s and a live performance by songstress and pianist, Nibia. The styling of the models and overall vibe of the show were initially reminiscent of Meadham Kirchhoff S/S’12, but the show soon took on a life of its own. Read More
The aesthetics of the New York Punk scene have inspired fashion for decades. Dirty hair, unnecessary sunglasses, and leather jackets never go out of style…plus you can validate your disheveled appearance when there’s no time for a shower. London designer SIBLING has taken that punk inspiration to a whole different place for their collection of men’s knitwear. Read More
My boyfriend and I recently took a leap of faith, quit our jobs, and took a much needed vacation from New York City across the border to Canada! We chose three cities and took our first train ride to Montreal. We spent most of our time there and then headed for a brief visit to Quebec City and Toronto.  We both invested in new cameras right before we left and were staying with seasoned photographer Mary Elam so we were all a bunch of photo-happy campers. We even created this short travel film of our adventures in Montreal. Read More

Gawd, I love colored cords. They're so much more fun than blue jeans. When wearing colored cords, I usually like to keep the rest of my outfit simple; a grey sweater looks great with cords of any color, and you can never go wrong with a pair of black flats. Corduroy Pant, $22.99, target. Read More
