Happy Friday BUSTies! The weekend is coming so we know there are tons of shows you need to catch up on, but before finishing up Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, here are a few stories you might have skipped this week: 1. Amy Schumer keeps it 100%, discussing the issue of not quite looking like Megan Fox or Kate Upton  in a world where the fact that Beyonce may not have the skin of a newborn is considered news. 2. Looking for some Feminist swag to wear? Well we have 10 awesome Feminist buttons to add to your summer accessories collection.  Oh yeah, and they are all under $3. 3. Read More
While there is so much amazing, female-friendly television programming out there at the moment, it’s hard to fathom a world in which women's media interests actually outrank those of their be-penised counterparts. But once a year, we get a taste of what that world would be like: Super Bowl Sunday might take up all the bandwidth on ESPN, but all the other channels are acutely aware that non-sports fans, ladies included, might want to watch something (anything) other than sports. Forget the Oscars. Read More
Think you know everything about roller derby? Some have the perception that it’s riot grrrls in fishnets, punching the shizz outta each other on skates. Well, did you know that it started in the 1930s, was rebooted in the early 2000’s, and has 1,500 leagues around the world today? Don’t worry, this isn’t a derby pop quiz, but here’s your opportunity to help learn about some famous jammers!  Margot Atwell, some might know her on the flat track as the kick-ass Em Dash, has been skating with the New York league, Gotham Girls Roller Derby, for seven years. I don't think I’ve been this interested in Little League baseball since… well, ever.   Mo’ne Davis, a 13-year-old from Philadelphia, threw a two-hitter this past weekend at her team’s opening game at the Little League World Series. For those of you who aren’t familiar with baseball lingo, that’s pretty damn good. Davis is only one of the two female players at the LLWS, and is now the first female pitcher in history to win a game. Read More
Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was caught on camera, dragging the unconscious body of his girlfriend Janay Palmer out of an Atlantic City casino elevator. In the video, Palmer is limp, and though Rice tries repeatedly to prop her body up, she continues to fall to the ground.  Now he has been suspended for two games. I’m sorry, what? Two games? That is an insultingly brief suspension!  The NFL maintains that the punishment is, in fact, quite stringent. It’s going to cost him around $700,000—of his $15 million signing bonus.  No. Not acceptable. Read More

On Sunday evening, every single bar I passed on New York’s Second Avenue was packed with both women and men, screaming at the top of their lungs and cheering for the USA in their World Cup match against Portugal. According to CNN, similar scenes were scattered across Iran this past Saturday. Restaurants were packed with fans - both women and men - who were excitedly cheering on their country’s team in the nail-biting match against Argentina.   Yet every single woman there was breaking the law. In 1979, it was deemed illegal for women to attend sporting events. Read More
Girls star Shoshanna has been up to a lot as of late- struggling to find clarity in her romantic life (most recently settling for Parker who she once described as “so dumb that he couldn’t find the library,”), working hard at focusing on her fifteen-year plan to become a successful businesswoman, and unexpectedly, she is a star athlete at the 2014 Sochi Games. If there are two things I love, it’s animals and Ellen DeGeneres. Since it’s Ellen’s birthday this week, she decided to break the rules a little bit and share her very special Super Bowl commercial ahead of time. Ellen stars as Goldilocks—Ellilocks, if you will—except instead of searching for porridge, she really wants to groove out to the perfect tune on the app Beats Music. Always the animal lover, Ellen ends up having a blast with the bears (and a few of their woodland friends) as they all dance “happily ever after!” Take a look below. Read More
Meet the three cutest and most badass six-year-old girls of the Southern California based skateboarding group, “Pink Helmet Posse.” The members, Relz Murphy, Sierra Kerr and Bella Kenworthy, have already been recognized by skateboarding legends, and as the editor of Transworld Skateboarding Magazine Jamie Owens raves, “They’re incredible,” “I’ve seen a handful of teenage girls in the park, but never girls this young. They’re the real deal. Read More
