Today is Women’s Equality Day, the anniversary of (pardon me, *white) women gaining the right to vote in 1920. We started in Seneca Falls, and now we’re here – 95 years later, fierce and feminist as ever. To celebrate, we’ve compiled fifteen "Suffrage Jams" paying homage not only to the activists who pushed for the 19th Amendment, but to the millions of badass women who have since enjoyed and exercised that right. There’s still room for progress, of course – when it comes to politics, women are a long way from getting fully even. Read More

A one-off Sleigh Bells and Tink collaboration, “That Did It,” was released last week along with a bright video directed by Grant Singer, featuring the two artists reveling in their lyrical chemistry. The noise-pop-rap pairing makes a perfect dance jam that exudes both woman’s take-no-shit attitudes.
Besides visiting Sleigh Bells in the studio, Tink has been busy. The rising Chicago rapper released “Tell the Children,” a harrowing Timbaland-produced Ferguson protest track about racial injustice and police brutality. Read More

Four NYC indie rock darlings are coming together for Hurricane Sandy relief! A benefit concert on December 14th at Terminal 5 will donate all proceeds to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City.
Sleigh Bells, a duo from Brooklyn, will be blowing out our eardrums with their heavy brand of noise pop. They’ve now got two albums out and are working on a third with a possible release date in 2013.

The folks over at Saturday Night Live must really love BUST Magazine! The host of this weekend's comedy sketch show is none other than yours truly. Sort of. Although the hilarious staff here is not actually hosting SNL, our current cover lady Maya Rudolph is, and the musical guest is (drum roll please) Sleigh Bells! Not only did Sleigh Bells land a spot as our featured review in the Feb/March issue, we've got a brand-spankin' new interview with Alexis Krauss in our upcoming issue. Read More

A mother-daughter dinner at a Brazilian restaurant provided the unexpected start of equal-parts-adorbs-and-kickass alternative pop duo Sleigh Bells. Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss met in 2008 at Miss Favela in Brooklyn, where Miller was working as a waiter, and their partnership has been sensational ever since.
Sleigh Bells will be releasing their second album Reign of Terror (Mom + Pop) on February 21. For a taste of what the Reign will be like, watch the video for the album's first single, "Comeback Kid. Read More

As a person who actually cried the day Sleater-Kinney announced their indefinite hiatus, I am constantly looking for new music to seriously rock out to. A girl can only listen to Live Through This so many times before her friends start to think she's losing it. But this week, thanks to the buzz-happy bloggers over at Pitchfork, I discovered Sleigh Bells, a rockin' duo from Brooklyn fronted by tattooed badass Alexis Krauss (who may be the only person in the history of the world to successfully rock American Apparel Disco Pants).
