  On a recent episode of Billy on the Street, Billy Eichner created an obstacle course inspired by Shonda Rhimes and her many TV hits, and taking on that obstacle course  - which Billy called "Gay American Ninja Warrior" - was the one, the only Amy Sedaris.  A few of the physical challenges pay homage to Shonda Rhimes's many achievements, like "bursting through the glass ceiling at ABC" and "the NAACP Image Award ball pit." Actor Viola Davis accepted the award for Best Actress in a New TV Series at the 41st annual People’s Choice Awards last night. In a bright pink-red, floor-length dress that complimented her skin and figure, she proclaimed to us with a confident and graceful smile that she does it for the fans, and she thanks us for our support. You’re so welcome, Davis – you’re an amazing actress. We didn’t have to do anything but check our DVRs feverishly for a new episode of How To Get Away with Murder, but, you know, it doesn’t hurt to be noticed. Read More
2014 was, by most accounts, a pretty rad year for the ladies in the crowd. Politically, we’ve got more woman than ever before in Congress (100 to be exact), the first African-American Republican Congresswoman,  and a blatant smack down of  extreme anti-abortion laws. Women have thoroughly flexed their social media muscles, creating trending hashtags like #YesAllWomen, #WhyIStayed and #WhyILeft that united women and allies against violence, misogyny and sexism.   Thanks to a shameful (but successful) week-long Netflix binge on three full seasons of “Scandal”- I have been classically conditioned to feel an amalgam of excitement and delight whenever encountered by the name “Shonda Rhimes.” So naturally, after stumbling upon the news that my girl Shonda has just booked a third ABC show starring none other than African-American female icon Viola Davis (who literally moved me to tears in “The Help”), I nearly had a heart palpitation.
