In honor of it's second year of sex positive witchy feminism, Slutist is putting on a festival filled with burlesque, sex, and art. The goal is to celebrate women, but also discuss how throughout history women who choose not to live in the norms of society are labeled as either 'witches' or 'sluts.' The Legacy of the Witch festival invites you to be both and stray against the social norms of sex, politics, and discourse.
Special guests will include: Azar Swan, Delphic Oracle, Chicava HoneyChild, The Reverend Mother Flash, Severely Mame, Minx Arcana, and Pam Grossman. Read More

Female ejaculation, while scientifically proven to exist, is treated like the Bigfoot of female sexuality. There is documentation, but no one is really quite sure how it all works. Well, Jill Soloway, creator of Transparent and Wifey, has teamed with ‘Funny or Die’ to create a video that shows what could happen if you managed to harness the power of the mystical female ejaculate. “I date younger men, predominantly men in their 20s. And when I date younger men, I have sex with younger men.”
So begins Cindy Gallop’s 2009 TED Talk. “And when I have sex with younger men, I encounter the real ramifications of the ubiquity of hardcore pornography in our culture. There’s an entire generation growing up that believes that what you see in hardcore pornography is the way that you have sex. Read More

Ah, Valentine’s Day. The annual event can conjure up a bevy of emotions for people in any stage of a relationship. So whether you’re feeling Single As Fuck, or floating in a sea of marital bliss, we can agree that all anybody wants on this day is to feel… good. If that kind of good comes in the form of an extra large cheese pizza for one or a massive sushi boat for two (or more) then by all means, you do you. Read More

Always looking to expand my sexual encyclopedia, I’ve been disheartened and confused by the lack of public discourse around fisting. In fact, efforts to bring it up with my most sex-positive acquaintances have resulted in awkward laughing and quick avoidance — a reaction I couldn’t understand until I did a Google image search (Don’t do it). Per usge, pornographic hyperbole has taken over the popular imagination, and left curious people with little space for actual understanding. Read More

At first, the concept of feminist pornography may seem contradictory. The image most people have of porn consists of sketchy film sets where naïve women with surgically enhanced bodies are degraded, exploited, and coerced into performing sexual acts on camera by greedy men. It seems to counteract feminism’s core values of equality and empowerment for oppressed groups. Sex educator and feminist pornographer Tristan Taormino would beg to disagree with that sentiment.
Tristan Taormino is considered a pioneer in the feminist pornography movement. Read More

Remember Truth or Dare?
Covertly huddled together in the corners of dingy school hallways, sitting at the back ends of buses, crouched in the basements of our childhood homes – we played the eponymous game in our awkward, fumbling youth.
I recall one particular question during Truth that was frequently asked in rather hushed, thrilled tones: Have you ever masturbated?
The boys would smile knowingly, admitting to their pleasure bombastically, sometimes even high-fiving. The girls would cast their eyes away, shaking their heads violently. No. Read More

The term "feminist peep show" may sound like an oxymoron, but the Lusty Lady of San Francisco is one such joint. The club gained national attention in 1996 when its dancers, fed up with unfair pay cuts, random firings, and policy shifts, mobilized to form a union. The management obviously was not happy with this development, and tried to stop union elections. But in the spring of 1997, the employees successfully voted to unionize. They formed the Exotic Dancers Union, which remains to this day the only union of its kind–and is still active to this day. Read More
