A worldwide movement to end street harassment through crowd-sourcing called 'Hollaback!' has launched a petition on Change.org, demanding that Rush Limbaugh apologize for the ridiculously insensitive statements he made on his show last night concerning street harassment:
"The first way to deal with this that came into my mind, is you find yourself staring, looking at, casually glancing at a woman, but you know that it's now socially taboo. You shouldn't be doing it, and you think everybody is noticing you doing it and condemning you in their minds. You shouldn't be doing it. Read More

Everyone with a brain and a heart knows that Gloria Steinem is a brilliant, confident, and powerful woman--which is why Rush Limbaugh, who clearly lacks both of these vital organs, “has been calling [Steinem] a 'feminazi' for decades,” as she put it in an awesome short video produced by Open Road Media.
“It would be interesting to know how he got that way,” Steinem said, referring to Limbaugh. “I always wonder what happened to him. What made him think that there always has to be a hierarchy? That people can’t be linked instead of ranked. Read More

In recent months, many of us have stared at our computer screens in collective horror at the attack on our reproductive rights. Amidst the misguided (and sometimes downright evil) attempts to keep women barefoot, pregnant, and oppressed, a Rush Limbaugh statement heard ‘round the world was born. Read More

Calling all sluts! Need to register to vote? Look no further. You can Rock The Slut Vote right here.
This is a movement which was created to “fight the GOP effort to bully, subjugate and silence women,” and “wrest the power from the word slut and help women get informed, get involved, get registered and vote”.
The word slut was used publicly by Rush Limbaugh earlier this year to describe Sandra Fluke, who testified on behalf of women’s right to contraception at a Congressional hearing. Read More

He Who Shall Not Be Named questioned Hillary Clinton's validity after she was named one of TIME's most influential people. This is her 6th time to make the list and her second time to be honored for her work as Secretary of State. It's well-earned, too, considering to date she has spent 1,647.4 hours (that's 68.6 days) traveling to 95 countries on behalf of our nation. Read More

On our way out of the BUST office this past Friday afternoon, interns Maura, Ginny, and I were remarking on the difficulties of feminist blogging, namely that “We can only say ‘I hate Rush Limbaugh’ so many times!”
Since calling Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke a slut, Limbaugh's been all over the news because of his ludicrous defense of his actions, and buzz has continued over the number of advertisers who've dropped his show. I’m certainly not the only one who’s totally sick of hearing about Limbaugh at all. Read More

It comes as no surprise that sponsors are continuing to pull their ads from "The Rush Limbaugh Show"-- no company wants to be part of a program that's the subject of a major national backlash. Apparently there *is* such a thing as bad press, and right now Limbaugh is at the top of the country’s shit list for his degrading and misogynistic comments about Sandra Fluke.
According to ThinkProgress, 142 companies have dropped their ads from Limbaugh’s show since his comments on Fluke. Among those withdrawing their ads is Premiere Networks, which syndicates the show. Read More

Here at BUST, we’ve been following the story of Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke and the fight for affordable contraception pretty well. We’ve also followed the aftermath, which notably involved radio host and creep extraordinaire Rush Limbaugh verbally abusing Fluke, calling her a “prostitute,” and demonstrating his general lack of understanding of the way birth control and contraception work (explained brilliantly by the fabulous Rachel Maddow). At this point, dealing with the shit that spews from Rush Limbaugh’s mouth becomes physically exhausting. I don’t know how he manages to keep topping himself, but he’s done it again – this time in the form of a horribly misogynistic (and just plain creepy) radio rant against Georgetown Law School student Sandra Fluke.
Fluke testified during an unofficial hearing headed by Nancy Pelosi, giving a personal account about the health problems caused due to inaccessibility to contraception. Read More

Yep, it's Rush Limbaugh being distressingly offensive again. Apparently, someone called into question his judging the Miss America pageant, being as that he seems to hate women in every way, shape, and/or form, so he went on Fox News (where else?) to explain that he supports women. What?
The transcript and video from Think Progress:
CARLSON: So for those who were critics of you in judging this pageant, and saying that you haven’t been a supporter of women in the past —
LIMBAUGH: Oh, I’m a huge supporter of women. What I’m not a supporter of is liberalism. Read More
