With 3 members of Pussy Riot on trial in Russia, Madonna is the latest celebrity to speak out in support of them, urging the Russian court not to condemn the trio to prison. The women, all in their 20s, are on trial for performing a song in a Russian Orthodox church protesting Putin and his support by the church’s leaders-- particularly Patriarch Kirill. The rockers’ prosecutor asked for a three-year prison sentence, although they could face up to seven years. Since two of the women are mothers, the three-year sentence is seen as the lenient option. Talk about creepy: one California councilman has been charged with sexual assault of not one, but seven women working with him. According to prosecutors, while managing the Orange County Public Works, Carlos Bustamante asked female employees into his office under the guise of talking about business. Once inside, he would kiss, grab, and masturbate in front of them. There are at least 12 other cases in which Bustamante can’t be charged due to limitations, but those cases will be used as evidence.
