So, it's September. I've been in denial of this fact for a few weeks because a) wasn't it just 90 degrees and humid a week ago here on the east coast? and b) I'm not going back to school so it can't be fall yet, right?
Alas, it is now more than two weeks into September and the official first day of fall is just within reach. It is finally time to unearth your favorite scarves, mittens, leather jackets and knee boots. Read More

The Death Valley Girls are totally on fire right now. It’s barely been six months since the release of their debut album, Street Venom, and the raucous Los Angeles punk band is already prepping for the release of their follow-up EP, Electric High, out early this fall. The band (made up of lead singer Bonnie Bloomgarden, Laura Kelsey on drums, Larry Schemel on guitar and Rocky on bass) is as punk as it gets, with a sound that’s closer to something you’d hear coming from a Lower East Side basement in the early ‘70s than an LA recording studio in 2014. The Casket Girls, a three-piece from Georgia, is one of the very few bands with a creation story as dreamlike as its music. With a sound that’s equal parts soulful and grungy, dreamy and haunting, the Casket Girls really hold their own in the realm of what their record label accurately dubs “eerie-pop." They aren’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a summer soundtrack, but Strange Majik is here to change that. Read More

How's your Halloween going? Have you carved all of the pumpkins? Have you worn your "Sexy Chucky from Child's Play" costume once already so it's kind of tattered but it'll still look so great in a dimly-lit room full of tipsy people? Are your apples bobbed and your candies corned? Cool, me too!
Listen to this mix as you prep for our national day of cosplay and lighthearted faux paganism—they're the sort of moody-spooky-sexy jams that the Lost Boys would love and the Cullens wouldn't be cool enough for.
Click here for the Spotify mix, and here's the track list. Read More

When was the last time you heard some jack-off say that women don’t make music, or that chick-fronted bands pale in comparison to bands of Big, Strong Men? Well, tell those jerks to whine no more, because I have a playlist for you that will prove them all wrong.
Extremely funny Twitter lady Amber Earnest (@rare_basement, and if you don’t follow her yet I suggest you do) made a 1,000+ song Spotify playlist composed entirely of female-fronted bands, culled from suggestions given to her in the form of @replies. Read More

Snuggle up with your boyfriend/girlfriend/”let’s not even put labels on it”-type person and listen to this Spotify mix of romantical indie covers, featuring Bat for Lashes, Florence and the Machine, and She & Him. Alternately, you can listen while standing in the corner and moving your own arms up and down your back so it looks like you’re making out with an invisible. Funny in 8th grade, still hilarious now!*
Find Tobias, and other brilliant Arrested Development Valentines, over at Flavorwire.
*It might be less hilarious now. Read More

Tonight, I will be doing one of three things: high-fiving a million angels, working on my night cheese, or crying out of my mouth. I might even do them all at the same time. Why? Because tonight, the first episode of the final season of 30 Rock airs. While I'm looking forward to the new season, I'm devastated that it's over. In times of great strife like these, I feel that I must turn to music and/or dairy products for consolation. Luckily, BUST covergirl Tina Fey provided us with plenty of hilarious musical stylings over the past few years, both for her and her castmates. Read More
If you haven't heard of remix pro Pogo, you're in for a treat. He creates his "remixes" by using odd noises, chords, and voices from films such as Snow White and UP to Lord of the Rings and Dexter, and the results really are truly incredible (and oh-so-catchy!). Check out his newest remix of the classic "Pulp Fiction" below and thank us later. Read More
