Pig: A Restaurant is a new comedy being performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City's Chelsea district. Both the show's creator, Leila Cohan-Miccio, and star Lauren Adams use their food-industry experience to create a realistic and humorous look behind the scenes of a pork -themed restaurant. Cohan-Miccio is a former editor of the foodie website Grub Street (and producer of the web video Vag Magazine) while Adams is a New York City actress and restaurant veteran who has waited tables everywhere from Balthazar to Pure Food and Wine. Erika Lopez, a writer and performance artist who has been featured in the pages of BUST, is in N.Y.C. with a new performance project, The Welfare Queen. Adapted from her memoir, The Girl Must Die, the new work chronicles Lopez’s descent from a Simon and Schuster-published author to a welfare and food stamp recipient, all in the matter of a few years. In 1998, Simon and Schuster published Lopez’s illustrated novel Flaming Iguanas. After breaking ties with the publishing company, Lopez started her own independent media company, Monster Girl Media.
