Meninism is not defined in the dictionary because meninism is not a valid term or movement. The two men who run the Meninism Tweet Twitter account say meninism is “(parody) obviously sarcasm.” Meninism is not advocating for men’s rights. It is not fighting any of the issues men face. Meninism is simply a mockery of feminism and all that it stands for.  “#Meninism” and “#Meninist” have exploded on Twitter. The account and accompanying hashtags have more than 900 thousand followers, some of whom own shirts bearing the #Meninist logo. Read More
Gwyneth Paltrow is done with getting compared to other women in Hollywood who run successful companies. In an interview with TIME Magazine, Paltrow was asked if she looked at the lifestyle brands created by several other actresses. When Maggie Young started writing a memoir about the 23 men she slept with between the ages of 16 and 26, she didn’t expect it to become a liberating and relatable story for women living in an age still plagued by misogynistic treatment, absurd double standards, and impossible expectations. But that’s exactly what Just Another Number is: A raw, honest reflection on her adolescence through early adulthood that fearlessly details her struggles with bulimia, drugs, the military, and her dependence on male approval. Indonesian sports apparel manufacturer, Salvo, just brought us back to the 1950s with some solid advice on how to properly wash clothing. The short answer? By re-establishing antiquated gender roles. It’s a well known fact that misogyny leads to cleaner laundry, and now we have some direct instructions. Thanks to Salvo, men no longer have to struggle to understand complicated terms such as “tumble dry low” or “hand wash only," and us women can finally put down our knitting needles, babies, makeup (and whatever else us ladies do) to make ourselves useful. The Modern Man is the Internet’s latest mangled bits of thirsty, quasi-Men’s Right Activist dating advice coming from Dan Bacon, a self-appointed “dating and relationship expert.” Needless to say, Bacon is only concerned with heterosexual, cisgender dudes. Obviously.    Promising men the ultimate advice for scoring a gal, Bacon flaunts his “expertise” with women via a cheekily [seemingly photoshopped] image of a smug smile plastered across his face as a faceless blonde woman sucks on his neck. 21 states have signed bills that deem it illegal to handcuff women while in labor and immediately after; however, correctional officers have taken on their own measures to “protect” citizens from these offenders. Despite what doctors have called life-threatening to both mother and child, women are still routinely shackled during and immediately after labor. A New York Times article written by Audrey Quinn depicts this as regular part of the birthing process in prison. Read More
