Sixteen year old burgeoning model and actress Lily-Rose Depp just came out as sexually fluid via Instagram in the most epically casual way, and frankly, I’m ecstatic for her. The news broke by way of a photo taken for artist iO Tillett Wright’s Self Evident Truths project, a series depicting 10,000 people in the U.S. who identify as “not 100 percent straight.”
“She falls somewhere on the vast spectrum,” Wright wrote in the Instragam caption. “And I couldn't be happier to welcome her to the family."

Recently, armpit hair has become a widely discussed trend for women all around the world. Following the lead of Madonna and Miley, women are starting to question the whole concept of shaving their underarms.

After the announcement of the Video Music Awards, Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to thank MTV for the nominations she earned—Best Female Video for “Anaconda,” Best Hip-Hop Video for “Anaconda,” and Best Collaboration for her work on “Bang Bang.” Here’s where it got messy: She also tweeted that she felt “Anaconda” was snubbed for the Video of the Year award, which is considered the seminal award of the night, and that her collab with Beyoncé, “Feeling Myself,” deserved attention too. If you feel like inciting a riot amongst a group of pop culture-savvy individuals, simply walk into a bar and utter the phrase, “God, I love [insert name of 20-something trending icon here].” Sometimes it’s Taylor Swift, oftentimes it’s Lena Dunham, and more than often it’s the reigning queen of controversy herself: Miley Cyrus. There’s just something about an influential young woman with media omnipresence that pisses people off, especially when what they say or do are not exactly vanilla.

Miley Cyrus is naked (again), this time in V magazine’s music issue (out January 15th). By this point, Miley’s transformation from Disney Channel’s packaged innocence to subversive pop star is about complete. A proud supporter of the Free the Nipple campaign, Miley has no qualms about baring buns and other bits—and she has a solid reason behind her decision to strip down. “It’s not about getting your titties out. It’s about equality,” the singer/actress recently tweeted. We're dig it. Read More

Prepare to get your girls out, because the Free the Nipple film trailer is finally here!
If you’re someone who is generally not concerned with the liberation or censorship of half the population’s areolas, let’s back up a step and fill in the holes. In America today, there are 37 states that prohibit a woman from appearing topless in public, and that includes breastfeeding. Illegally exposing her nipple can result in up to three years in jail and a $2,500 fine. Read More

Pop princess Miley Cyrus, the queen of shock value and twerking, is turning heads in the art world too. The starlet, adorned in a cigarette, Slinkie and air-freshener covered necklace, debuted her art collection “Dirty Hippie” this past Wednesday at Jeremy Scott’s show during New York Fashion Week.
After a tough year that included losing her beloved dog Floyd, Miley threw herself into a different kind of creative project. As any of her followers know, she's been making her own jewelry and compulsively posting picures of her and her friends wearing her creations to her Instagram. Read More

I came across Roxane Gay’s literature while I was deep in the clutches of ADD. But when I found her short story “The Year I Learned Everything” while poking around the web, I could not stop reading it from start to finish. Gay was there for me when I needed a voice to shout without dominating; she had true grit, without embellishment or pageantry. When I finished, I couldn't believe that the story was classified as fiction—her ability to convey the full spectrum of human emotions so effortlessly made my cheeks burn.
Recently, I headed to The Last Bookstore in L.A. Read More

Although we’re fresh off the new Beyoncé-Nicki collaboration that has quite literally rocked the internet, we may have another duo of fire starters partnering up soon.
A few days ago, Miley Cyrus turned her Instagram into a one day, mini-shrine to one of music’s most prevalent and influential feminists: the one, the only Kathleen Hanna. She threw out a couple pro-Hanna comments, like “coolest ever” and “f*** yeah… #girlsrule”. Read More

White people everywhere are tired of hearing about “cultural appropriation.” So what if my favorite pop star Katy Perry is wearing cornrows in her new video?! The only thing that is keeping racism alive is people of color talking about racism!
Well, I’m here to debunk all of the whitesplained myths about cultural appropriation, and to tell you why it is indeed racist for Katy Perry to dress up as a geisha or to have large butt mummies dancing around her during a live performance. Read More
