In case you’ve never heard of it, Into the Woods is basically the best musical ever. Literally. It is a work of genius born from the genius of the ever-magnificent Stephen Sondheim and bestowed upon our world as a heavenly gift.

Angelina Jolie has been on a roll lately. First, she produced and starred in her hit new movie, Maleficent - which has been applauded by feminist critics; second, she recently spoke at the first ever Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict, of which she is a co-chair.
The conference aims specifically to stop sexual violence during wars and conflicts. According to Reuters, Sierra Leone’s civil war didn’t stop at battle-related casualties - an estimated 60,000 women were survivors of rape. Read More

I have been staring at an open Word document since late Friday evening after I sat in a sold-out theater and watched my New Favorite Film unfold before me, trying to put into words what about Maleficent made me exclaim (much to the dismay of the audience members around me) “THIS IS A REALLY BIG DEAL” right after (major spoilers ahead) Maleficent kisses Aurora on the forehead, awakening her from the curse with true love’s first kiss. On the list of badass villainesses, Maleficent from Disney's animated Sleeping Beauty ranks pretty high. Needless to say, I couldn't be more stoked she's getting a "her side of the story" treatment in a live-action film scheduled for release next year. Based on Disney's description of the film, it already sounds way cooler than you were just thinking:
