Recently, armpit hair has become a widely discussed trend for women all around the world. Following the lead of Madonna and Miley, women are starting to question the whole concept of shaving their underarms.
A group of LA women posted a video yesterday called "Armpit Hair, Don't Care," which explained why growing out your armpit hair is lifestyle choice that’s definitely worth talking about. In the video, they share their own personal reasons for using their armpit hair to make a statement. Read More

Yes, we certainly agree that Madonna looked great at the Grammys Sunday night—but can we please quit it with all the qualifiers? Adding "for her age" to the statement only bolsters society's treatment of women's aging as a disease. It's hard enough that female pop stars are judged so strongly for their appearances, but responses to Madonna's show remind us that when it comes to talking about lady performers out of their 20s, we'll be getting a large dose of ageism with our sexism. Full disclosure: We're pretty major Madonna fans around these parts, and often find Rihanna to be a bit disappointing (that has not, however, stopped us from jamming out to her music from time to time). So when we came across this RiRi cover of "Vogue," we were prepared to have mixed feelings about it. Read More

Since 1982, the dedicated people in the literary community have brought awareness to the glorious books that parents and administrators tried to hide from curious youth. Banned Books week is not just about embracing those elementary school posters of authors and celebrities telling you to “READ” but also about fighting censorship, for the sake of diverse and vital literary content. Music is a very male-dominated industry, and when women do rise to prominence they are often pitted against and compared to each other, despite the fact that each queen is a unique snowflake and should be treated as such.
But once in a blue moon, all the stars align and three or more female powerhouses collaborate to create a club-banger that reminds the boys that these divas are not only fierce, but borderline superhuman when they work together. You better work, ladies. Read More

As recently as 2012, Mary Lambert was working as a bartender in Seattle. But these days, the 25-year-old singer/songwriter is signed to Capitol Records, which released her EP Welcome to the Age of My Body in December and has slated her full-length debut (tentatively titled Burn Bright) for this summer. She’s been written up in The New York Times, appeared on Good Morning America, and sang at the Grammys with Madonna. “It happened so quickly,” Lambert says. “That’s a phrase you hear all the time—but it did. I was changing beer kegs when the song was released. Read More

Despite all of the books, websites, and blogs dedicated to redefining the word “feminism”- evidently, there are still many people who associate feminism with the same time-honored stigma that has been attached to the word since women were “burning their bras in the 60s.” Maybe it's time now that people wake up and realize that feminism is not just for raging man-haters- but for women of all shapes and colors who simply want to be treated like first class citizens. Madonna is nothing if not contradictory.
She's like a virgin, but she's also a material girl; she's ancient, but she's hot like fire.
This makes her a tough pill to swallow on occasion (kinda like the MDMA she kinda told us we should all do on her MDNA tour). But the last thing that should make Madonna unlikable is her body hair.
The selfie is relatively tame body-hair-wise, and reminiscent of Patti Smith's iconic album cover (see below), although the tight black lingerie and Teddy Boy hairstyle is all Madonna. Read More
