Former Bust intern, Buffi Jashanmal, was one of the designers called in to help design seven dresses for Lady Gaga’s upcoming music video. Avant-garde fashion label House of Diehl was asked to make the dresses in only five days, and Buffy was called in to help complete the nearly impossible task. Some designers pay up to $100,000 for Gaga to wear their clothes, so this is a huge deal for unknown fashion designers looking for a big break.
The designers weren’t given any details about the video, which will be for a song off Gaga’s new album, “Born This Way”. Read More

Lady Gaga has something to say about the military's "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy and she wants all of America to hear it. Not only has she been tweeting her opinions and pleas, she has made a video that is over 7 minutes long and directly addresses the U.S. Senate.
Responses have varied. Some question the pop-queen's credibility in issuing a public statement expressing her personal stance on the controversial DADT policy, while others applaud her for taking responsibility as a public figure and using her celebrity status to bring attention to a pressing political issue. Lady Gaga is supposedly to blame for the slow rise of a new trend concerning the “big eye” look she showed off in the video for ‘Bad Romance.’ While the look seems to have originated in anime and manga, it can’t be denied that The Gaga would naturally be the one to bring it to the forefront, trendsetter that she is. (I’m personally waiting for a video in which she sneezes with her eyes open and heads start exploding across America. Read More

Forbes Magazine has just released its annual list of “The 100 Most Powerful Celebrities” and it appears the past year was particularly good for Hollywood’s most talented and versatile ladies.
Raking in a ridiculous $315 million from her media empire, the one and only Oprah Winfrey kicked Angelina Jolie out of the No. 1 spot to reclaim her throne.
She’s followed by Beyonce at No. 2 who earned $87 million largely due to her endorsement deals with like a hundred different companies and ability to poop out infectious pop songs every other month. Read More

It’s official—the French government is run by a douchebag. This week, Nicholas Sarkozy sent legislation off to parliament intending to impose a $185 fine on women who wear a full-face Islamic veil. Has he forgotten who started the whole cover your head thing? Let's review.
(Photo by André Durst for Vogue, November 1938)
Getting women to cover their heads started long before the Muslims came along. Sarkozy is of Catholic and Jewish descent. The most popular type of veil is made of French netting. Are you sensing a theme? Looks like Nicky is a self-hating douchebag. Read More

Check out this video of Karin Dreijer Andersson aka Fever Ray accepting an award in Sweden for best dance record. Known for never showing her face, I love how she keeps outdo-ing herself each time she goes on stage, this makes it sooo much more interesting, don't you think? This woman makes Gaga look positively tame! (plus her music is 100x more interesting, IMHO) LOVE IT. Read More

You know Barbie - she's an astronaut, leading Malibu surf champion, ice skater, doctor, has a pilot's license, animal owner, big sister, Cadalliac driver and resident of a bubblegum pink abode. Barbie dances (ballerina, anyone?) but now she can sing.
Barbie now moonlights as Lady Gaga.
Doll artist (or "player") Veik recreates many of Gaga's vivid looks on dolls. The Beijing player crafts Gaga's larger-than-life looks on the minitature scale and you can too. Read More

Debate is raging in the BUST office about whether or not Lady Gaga is awesome. We all agree that her look is crazy amazing, but her music leaves some of us saying 'eh,' and at least one saying that 'Paparazzi' sounds a little too much like the Berlin slow jam 'Take My Breath Away.'
I, however, am not one of these naysayers. I love all things Gaga, especially since the premiere of her epic 'Bad Romance' vid -- I have literally not watched anything else all week. PETA be damned, I'd wear that polar bear cape thing in a minute. Or those 10-inch lobster claw Alexander McQueen heels. Read More
