So here’s a short list of women whose work was overshadowed by the fame of their partners and the media’s preference to celebrate men-- casting woman as a muse and supporter. Angel Olsen is a Chicago-based singer songwriter, and her 2012 album Half Way Home got a LOT of play in my apartment last year. Check her out on Spotify if you enjoy Patsy Cline, Bonnie "Prince" Billy (she’s toured with him), or beautiful folk songs about restless wandering and dudes who don’t call.
