The Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute benefit gala is unofficially one of fashion's biggest nights - Ralph Lauren declares it the "Super Bowl of fashion." A-listers, armed with their $25,000 tickets, came together Monday night in their most adventurous outfits to make an impression and celebrate fashion as an art at the Vogue-sponsored event. And while some of the sartorial choices on Monday shone, many fell flat, and some were just perplexing. Read More

The temperatures continue to rise and the sun is making its way out from behind the April clouds, meaning it's nearly time to bust out your raddest sunglasses. There's no better way to avoid eye strain, hide a hangover, or masquerade as a reclusive famous person. Below are some of our favorite options for this summer, and since we tend to go through pairs pretty quickly (read: accidentally sit on them in the car), they're all ultra-cheapies.
These bright and graphic babies make a statement, and as a bonus, will make you look more like MIA. Read More

At a recent dinner hosted by publishing company Penguin Books and clothing brand Whistles, Whistles CEO Jane Shepherdson stated that it was time for the fashion industry to “reclaim feminism.” Her point is well taken: the fashion industry is one of the few that is dominated by women, yet it is rarely regarded as a feminist industry. This idea got me thinking about the nature of the fashion industry and women’s interest in clothing in general. Fashion is also one of the very few forms of expression in which women have more freedom than men. Read More
The Hunger Games is officially a phenomenon. People of all ages and tastes are loving it and with such a twisted plot and kickass heroine, who can blame them? America is geeking out together and I'm loving every minute of it. Not only are the fans varied, but so is the film's fashion. From district to kooky capital, there is surprising inspiration to be had. Although most capital citizens are a silly, ignorant bunch, they do get to wear some of the most extravagantly colorful garments rarely seen in films these days. Read More

I'll buy any piece of clothing—socks, underwear, dress, t-shirt—if there are stripes on it. My fondness for stripes probably has something to do with my love for repetition; I find it to be very calming. Also, I think stripes make people look cool, and I like to think that my coolness (on a scale of 1=low to 10=high) goes from a 1 to a 3 when I wear stripes. Pretty impressive.
Here's a small roundup of striped dresses that I've got my eyes on.

It's a funny time of year. We're on the cusp of spring and way sick of sluggin' around in our winter layers. Fashion Month is in full swing, acting as a sort of rejuvenating dose of inspiration to fight the winter bleh's. Many trendsters take flights of fashion fancy in this transitional time, which can be both good and bad. Let's decide if these trends are fun or fug.
Like I said, it's the time of year when winter seems interminable and we're all OVER IT already. Read More

Iconic Brit jewelers (and longtime BUST favorites), Tatty Devine have sparked a huge response on Twitter in the last 24 hours after posting these pictures on their blog highlighting the dubious similarities between some of their classic designs and those currently on sale at UK high street chain, Claires Accessories.
Coming at already challenging times for all UK retailers, these cheaper mass produced versions pose a real threat to the well-loved indie label. Tatty Devine say they hope that the response will persuade the company to withdraw these pieces. Read More
