American Apparel was looking for a model for the launch of its plus size line. They decided to have a contest where people could submit their own photos and other people could vote on it. The company used the tagline, “The Next BIG Thing,” which made a bunch of people mad. But one plus size woman decided to get even. Nancy Upton, a size 12 actress and student from Dallas, submitted her own photos. All of them combined elements of food and sex. Some photos featured Upton covering herself in ranch dressing. Read More

We have all read and loved her posts here on the BUST blog, as well as her keen eye for fashionable detail. We have probably even spent more than what is considered a healthy amount of time on her fashion blog, the Rebel Waltz, as she captures street styles from places like New York City, Austin, and San Francisco. But, we aren't the only ones who are taking notice. Former BUST intern Kristina Uriegas-Reyes is attracting some outside attention these days and, of course, we have to let you all know (so you can stalk her more than you already do). Read More
People love androgyny. Admit it, we love those girls who look just as good in suits as they do in dresses. You know who else loves androgyny? The industry; the fashion industry that is. When we think high fashion, I'm sure we can all expect a lady or two sashaying down the runway in something masculine, but, what about a guy? What happens when a man comes down the runway in the latest gown? The fashion world may be in oohs and ahhs and tears of gender-bending joy, but the average person may feel a little…confused.Take Andrej Prejic, for example. Read More

For those of you who remember the day Frances Bean Cobain was born (like me), be prepared to feel a leeetle old. Lil’ FB is now lookin’ like a grown-ass woman, and in this photo shoot she did with former Dior Homme/YSL designer Hedi Slimane, she pretty much owns the camera. I know Kurt and Courtney are her parents and all, but it still freaks me out a little how much she looks like both of them. A whisper of the past in the face of the future. And hot damn, them are some good-lookin’ genes. Go to Hedi's site for the whole smoldering shoot. Read More
Only my second fashion show to date, the 2011 BFA Parsons Fashion Show was certainly an exciting one! This is a show that has previously help launch the careers of designers such as Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler at one of the most renowned fashion schools in the world. Other designer alums include Anna Sui, Narciso Rodriguez, Peter Som, and host/speaker of the event, Reed Krakoff.  As the show began, I felt like I was bombarded with fashion, my head turning every which way. You know how some days you just don't want to get out of your bed? And you're like, ah, if only I could take my bed with me? And then the snuggie came along and you were like 'finally!' and wore it on the subway, and to work, and out to the bar and then no one bought you a drink because the snuggie was just not showing off your figure enough? No fear. The form fitting ONE PIECE is here.  Like the Royal Wedding, the ONE PIECE is a big deal in the UK; with DailyMail commenter Freya of London stating: "I LOVE MY ONEPIECES MORE THAN MY BLACKBERRY!..... and that says something.
