Not gonna lie to y'all, there are definitely days when I would prefer to wear both my sweatpants and my down comforter outside my apartment instead of doing the civilized thing of putting on "normal" pants. Like my sweatpants are second class citizens or something. Rude.
ANYWAY, according to a recent study, it seems as though covering up on the reg leads to an improved body image. And not just a hoodie hiding third-day top knot hair coverage. ... Read More

In honor of New York Fashion Week, ModCloth’s co-founder Susan Gregg Koger confronted the fashion industry with a letter about its skewed viewpoint. The online fashion company that uses independent designers and a wide assortment of vintage and unique pieces wants to remind their customers, and ladies everywhere, that fashion should instill confidence. “I look out, and it seems less about helping people find fashion they love to wear, and more ... New York Fashion Week kicks off in two days (!!!), but it is not only for the elite, style-forward mavens of Vogue as one may think. Fashion Week is for the creative and the curious as well.
“HA!” you might be thinking. “This girl clearly has never attempted to attend a fashion week show, ever.”
And you’d be right, which is exactly why I’m not going wax poetic about the genius that is Proenza Schouler or Miu Miu ... Read More

Dirty Dancing didn’t only make household names out of Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze (R.I.P.) but it was also an iconic teen love story that made water dancing, Keds and summer camp seem cool.
This movie was iconic not only in the mom-jeans hall of fame, but it also became essential when talking about 80’s fashion, so today I’m bringing baby out of the wardrobe corner and into 2014. So without further ado, here's how to incorporate ... Read More

In case you missed it, a fashion shoot by Indian photographer Raj Shetye made headlines for all the wrong reasons. The photo series depicted a model groped in various positions by men on a bus, and was particularly unsettling because of its eerie resemblance to the tragic 2012 gang rape and murder of a 23-year old woman on a bus in Delhi.
The shoot garnered some well-deserved backlash, including some from Bollywood music director Vishal Dadlani, ... Read More

I don't remember the exact moment I discovered Tavi Gevinson's blog Style Rookie, only that I interpreted her shrines of teenage girlhood via Goody barrettes, Barbie clothes, Freaks and Geeks posters and Comme des Garcons ads as the work of a mastermind. A mastermind in Miu Miu pumps and granny shawls. I was in awe and continued to read her blog with a sort of feverish glee for years.
I wish I turned my Girl Scout patches into ... Read More

Black Milk Clothing is taking realistic body image to a whole new level this summer with their “Dem Guts” bathing suit—a suit with a print of the inner anatomy of the human body—guts and all!
It’s nice to see a clothing company which actually recognizes the fact that the women who will be wearing its products are human in every way (including some of the kind of weird/gross ways).
Lost at E-Minor interviewed Black Milk ... Read More
