On Sunday, 400,000 people lined up along the west side of Central Park. They came from New York and Wisconsin and Canada and the Republic of Georgia. They had hand-drawn signs on cereal boxes and mass produced posters advocating divestment from fossil fuels. They had stilts, umbrellas, macaws, ukuleles, stickers, pins, and whistles. In the end, so many people showed up and clogged the march route that the crowd had to be dispersed via text message at 5PM, long ... Read More
Oh look, it’s Agent Dana Scully of the X-Files carrying a wounded alien! This photograph of a nude Gillian Anderson, adorned with a deceased conger eel, is actually part of Fish Love’s new campaign to end overfishing. The British organization, founded by Nicholas Rohl and Greta Scacchi, released Denis Rouvre’s images of celebrities and dead fish in attempt to raise awareness about deep sea trawling, a practice that continues to fatally ... The Women Take Over recently sat down with ... Read More

Essentially we’re comparing the planet Earth to someone so loving and nurturing that ... Read More
The Oregon Zoo just posted an adorable video of their two-month-old river otter Molalla learning to swim. Otter keeper Becca VanBeek explains that otters are practically immobile when they're babies, so Mo's mom Tilly has been easing him into the water. Baby Mo was as big as "a handful of jellybeans" (!!!) when he was born, but he's now a 2000-gram pup with "quite the personality." To honor the first river otter born at Oregon Zoo, Metro is donating money from ... Read More
Is it just us, or has porn been getting a lot more awesome over the past few years? With increasingly subversive plots and down-to-earth stars, there's never been less shame in getting down and dirty. Hell, it might even become noble, thanks to the Berlin activists behind Fuck for Forest (via Grist). The group's modus operandi is right there in the name: Fuck for Forest uses the profits of their sexy home videos to buy portions of the increasingly ... Read More
