If you're anything like me (and since you are reading BUST I'm guessing you are), you've been spending these cold months binge watching episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race, waiting and longing for its return on February 24. I've re-watched these episodes so many times, my dreams (maybe nightmares?) have been overrun with lace-front wigs and and pieces of foam shaped like Africa. Read More
The highly-anticipated (by me, anyway) sixth season of RuPaul's Drag Race will premiere February 2014 on LOGO. “It's our most outrageous and sickening cast to date," assures RuPaul. "And quite frankly, I'm scared of these queens.” Oh snap! Let's meet the 14 drag queens who will be coming to your TV (and your heart) in just a few months.   Image via Pinterest Adore Delano / Azusa, CA @AdoreDelano "I'm a mermaid and I grew up singing so that the humans could hear me from above.   The completely magical, fantastical drag and burlesque superstar The World Famous *BOB* is hosting an Onstage Beauty/Drag Basics class at the New York School of Burlesque tomorrow, Friday the 28th of August at 6:00 PM. The class will be super fun and informative. I have often coveted the stunning beauty and poise characteristic of drag stars (I myself never wear make-up), and now we can all have the chance to learn the secrets of the biz, like how to design flawless wigs and apply pesky false eyelashes!   Plus: proceeds from the event will go to a great cause. Only a few months later, the project greatly expanded with over 30 different drag queens photographed thus far, with more to come. Read More
Just when you thought you might die of the midwinter blues, the greatest reality show of all time—RuPaul’s Drag Race—has returned to cure your Seasonal Affective Disorder. Based on Monday night’s premiere, it looks like season four is gonna be good, with synthetic hair, catfights, and gloriously bitchy insults galore. Before the episode even properly begins, the preview montage gives us, “Go back to Party City where you belong.” Oh Ru, It’s been too long. Read More
I love drag. I always have; when I was about five years old I apparently watched the classic drag movie The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert so often that the tape of the VHS wore out. Now, 16 years later, I watch just about everything online, so there’s no problem if I want to watch the same thing over and over, like I’ve done with the first season of “Rupaul’s Drag U. Read More
