HBO has really stepped up their game. Their documentaries are no exception to this. They seem to be resurrecting an art-from that had been pushed to the side in favor of instant internet journalism. We can safely say that, with the premier of Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, HBO has revived the documentary.
The film, directed by Mike Lerner and Maxim Pozdorovkin, shows some never-before-seen footage of the trial and events leading up to that performance in 2012. Read More

We've been fans of duo songstresses Smoke Fairies since their debut release Through Low Light and Trees back in 2011. The British gals, Katherine Blamire and Jessica Davies, have fine-tuned their haunting harmonized vocals and powerful dual guitarwork over the past six years. Smoke Fairies put an eerily brilliant spin on blues rock by incorporating classic folk elements into their sound, especially on tracks like "Let Me Know" and "Awake."

C-SPAN has a pretty cool Presidents Day gift for us all. The network, along with the White House Historical Association, is producing a year-long series of documentaries about the first ladies of America. Each woman will have an episode devoted to her life, beginning with Martha Washington on February 25th and finishing up with Michelle Obama in February 2014, with a special preview episode airing tonight at 9 p.m.
Mark Farkas, an Executive Producer at C-SPAN, is especially interested in how each first lady has influenced policy and legislation with the power of her position. Read More
