T-Swift is always making headlines. Among other things, she's recently seen the light and is a self-proclaimed feminist, Diplo has been calling her out on Twitter for not having an ass (with none other than Lorde quickly coming to her defense), and have you guys seen her ridiculously gorgeous cover for Wonderland Magazine?? But we can’t forget why she’s here in the first place—she’s an amazingly talented artist. Her highly anticipated album, 1989, has topped the charts and blown out speakers everywhere. Well, at least in my apartment. Read More

Dirty Dancing Style Guide

BY Caelan in Style

Dirty Dancing didn’t only make household names out of Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze (R.I.P.) but it was also an iconic teen love story that made water dancing, Keds and summer camp seem cool. This movie was iconic not only in the mom-jeans hall of fame, but it also became essential when talking about 80’s fashion, so today I’m bringing baby out of the wardrobe corner and into 2014. So without further ado, here's how to incorporate 80’s fashion into your wardrobe without looking like the lady who sells Christmas sweaters on QVC or Sally Jesse Raphael. Read More
Ballerina Misty Copeland has lived a remarkable life. In her memoir, Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina, she describes how she began ballet at age 13, attended summer programs at the San Francisco Ballet, and battled racism and body-image insecurities to join the American Ballet Theater Studio Company and become the company's first African American soloist in the past 30 years. Not too shabby at all. If you don't know Copeland yet, though, you will soon. Read More
A bunch of BUST editors and friends were asked to judge Jonathan Toubin’s  Soul Clap and Dance-Off  a few weekends ago, and we had SOOOOO much fun! Above is a pic of the winner, Elizabeth Arnold (aka #66) who's moves were undeniable. The second runner up was also fantastic, but we didn't catch his name because, frankly, judging is hard work and you need to drink the entire time, so by 2 am we were pretty wasted. Sorry #100! Special guest DJs  Jon Spencer (Pussy Galore) and Cristina Martinez (Boss Hog) kept the bodies moving. Read More
It seems like the discussion surrounding the Miley Cyrus phenomenon and her use of little people at the VMAs has involved (mostly white) women of average height. While that’s valid and can be helpful, I can’t help but wonder why we’re not hearing from little people. An average sized person cannot pretend to understand cultural prejudices and representations of little people without at least consulting an informed source for whom this issue is personal.    Hollis Jane is an actress who also happens to be a little person. Get ready to let the awwww’s flow because this tiny human is truly adorable! Last Friday, October 4th, dance teacher Tianne King and her daughter Heaven (such an appropriate name!) showcased their dance moves on The Ellen Show. The two became internet-famous back in May of this year when Tianne uploaded to YouTube a video of the duo dancing to Beyoncé’s “End of Time.” Here’s the original video of the two: At the time of the video, Heaven was only two. Now at the ripe age of three, this little girl is making TV spots. Read More

Fans of electronic music, dance-pop, and fun, take notice: Hot Chip is (possibly) coming to your town. I’ve been a fan of this electro band for years, so to say I’m looking forward to waving around imaginary glowsticks at their upcoming NYC gig (on April 9th at Roseland Ballroom) is a large understatement. The fact that the band recently added a female drummer (Sarah Jones, of New Young Pony Club) only sweetens the pot. Read More
