Maybe we wish it wasn’t so groundbreaking at this point, but the truth is Hanna Brewer is a badass for doing what she’s doing: playing drums. The world of performing musicians is still largely made up of men, and though women have been dominating Billboard charts this year, the backlash against the upcoming Women in Music Awards reminds us that female success in the music industry is not yet entirely expected (for example, like this FDRMX article asks, ... Courtney Love is going to the opera. The former BUST cover gal will be co-starring in Kansas City Boy Choir, a pop opera written by composer Todd Almond, according to The New York Times. The opera will debut as part of PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now, an NYC festival running from Jan. 8 to 17.  Kansas City Boy Choir is described on the PROTOTYPE website as “a mystery told through flashbacks, the show tells the story of two lovers in small town ... Apart from her amazing performance in her band White Lung, it was Mish Way's unabashed admiration for Courtney Love that first endeared her to me.  For all her faults, Courtney taught a generation of girls that women could be wild rock stars too. Sure, there were lots of female-fronted rock groups like Veruca Salt and Garbage around, but none were nearly as in-your-face, smart and unapologetic as Courtney.  She always had an articulate and witty reply ...   On Wednesday evening, The New York Times’s Frank Bruni was enjoying a cab ride home from dinner at New York’s Barbuto when he saw an inconspicuous little iPhone sitting on the seat beside him. Without a case and yet perfectly intact, he took the lost phone home and waited for it to ring. To his dismay, the phone was impenetrable. But there was a stream of texts coming in from celebrity contacts like psychic Peri Lyons and stylist Lo’renzo ... Read More
Courtney Love is unsmotable. As Hole’s frontwoman and Kurt Cobain’s wife, Love was the leading lady of ‘90s grunge. Since then, she has gone through her fair share of highs and lows, from punching Kathleen Hanna in the face to being the muse of Givenchy designer Ricardo Tisci. Now, she has a bunch of other projects on her plate ... including  tons of "crafty shit." Love's just like the rest of us - she's promoting her clothing ... Read More

Courtney Love threw rose petals at me. I managed to get one, put it in my bra, and sure enough it had wilted by the time I got home. I felt like that pretty much summarized my quest to see her in Asbury Park. But let me backtrack. There are a few things you need to know about me before we proceed:  I’m from Jersey.  I’m tiny.  I’m kind of an asshole.  I love Courtney Love more than anything. My high school years were lived ...       Story reprinted from the June/July 2013 issue of BUST MagazineCourtney Love is not happy.  She’s not happy with the pretty hairdo that the stylist has just worked on for an hour, not happy with the lovely look the makeup artist gave her, and not happy with the designer clothes the wardrobe stylists have picked out. And she’s definitely not happy with how she appears in the photographer’s first test shots. It’s not that she ... Read More
Rejoice - the high priestess of grunge hits the road solo this June! It’s been ages since she first claimed her throne as a '90s punk rock icon (Frances Bean isn’t a sprout anymore), but trust us - this mama hasn’t lost her edge. When Hole played at Brooklyn’s Public Assembly last year, there were murmurs about a possible reunion tour (yes please!). For now, Courtney is heading off on her own with some new backing bandmates and a ... Read More
