Ever heard of cookies for a cause? Well, these students in Utah are fighting for equal pay for women through a bake sale that has been attracting some controversy.
The cookies are being sold for $1 to boys, and .77 cents for girls. Why?
"Because in America, for every dollar a man makes, a woman only makes 77 cents. So we're raising awareness for this,” says Kari Schott with the Young Democrats Club at Jordan High School.
There has been plenty of support from fellow students, male and female, as well as some expected push-back.
"I believe in what they're doing. Read More

For my first poetry show ever, one of my best friends offered to bake a super simple shortbread cookie for the audience. I was so nervous, but it was the perfect thing to add a calming and almost familial atmosphere. I endlessly appreciate this gesture because, since then, I have made ALL THE COOKIES! This recipe combines two of my favorite things, tea and baking.
I hear time and time again that baking is a very exact science and that straying from the recipe can lead to trouble, but I think I kind of like trouble, especially when it results in a soft, flavorful and elegant cookie. Read More
FattyCakesNY is truly a New York gem if we ever saw one! Founder Jennifer Taylor-Miller started experimenting with baking back in 2009, when she worked in children’s media. Before she knew it, her co-workers were begging her for bites of her insanely delicious baked goods, which often included unexpected ingredients like candy or popcorn! Four years later, FattyCakesNY is the city’s go-to for unique and sweet experiences. Read More

Summertime is so close I can almost taste it. It tastes like sunshine, margaritas, freedom, and Sweet Sally's Blueberry Buckle.
Here at BUST, we love a good dessert. An entire website full of delicious desserts? Too good to be true. Sweet Sally's is the product of Sally Saltzbart Minier, a third generation baker who learned everything she knows in the kitchen from her mother. And speaking from personal experience, their treats, which ship to the entire continental US, will literally blow your mind. Read More

A video has been making the rounds this week that features a rather hateful Girl Scout calling for a boycott on cookie sales. With an unnerving amount of poise, the girl, who identifies herself as Taylor, goes on an eight-minute diatribe against the Girl Scouts of America protesting the inclusion of a 7-year-old transgender child in a Colorado troop. Taylor's video (which has now been made private) was posted and circulated by a Houston-based group called Honest Girl Scouts. Read More

Clever ladies Clem, Kathleen and Eve offer cookies and other baked goods (according to their twitter, today they're making cinnamon buns) out of their second story San Francisco apartment by dangling a string out their window with a bag attached to it reading "1$ for a fresh baked cookie (pull the string if you wish to partake).
Their company is called Fat Cookies (yes!) and it is really one of the best ideas I've heard all year. People need cookies, and we don't always have time to duck in to stores to get them. Read More
