Since his tragic death, Philip Seymour Hoffman’s image has fluttered on and off of our computer screens more times than we can count. How might we chose a single photograph that captures the weight of artistic talent that influenced and moved our culture? A few short weeks ago, Hoffman sat for the photographer Victoria Will (a BUST Magazine contributor) at the Sundance film festival, and her photograph might just be that special-- if sorrowful-- one that affords him a sensitive dignity that resonates with fans and friends. Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm held an exclusive-but-not-too-exclusive Emmys after-party this past Sunday night. The guest list: everyone who lost.
Poehler, comedic genius, and Hamm, master of all things brooding, have garnered 9 and 11 nominations respectively over the years but have no winged paperweights to show for it. Still, the Losers Lounge, as they called it, sounds a lot cooler than any party you’re planning to attend this week, complete with other loser-guests like Elisabeth Moss, Fred Armisen, and Jimmy Kimmel. The weight loss and nutrition company Jenny Craig is starting to drop some of their celebrity endorsers and is going to launch a new animated advertising campaign. I am ECSTATIC about this, and let me tell you why: I'm SO tired of seeing celebs, mostly women celebs at that, push ordinary people to change their lives on the basis that they did it themselves. The Bling Ring is based on a true story so strange, it could only have happened in the moneyed ’burbs of L.A. Five teens—four girls, one guy—take their obsession with luxe living to the next level by burglarizing celebrity homes for thrills, bills, and prescription pills.
In Sofia Coppola’s retelling of the crew’s crimes, Emma Watson, Taissa Farmiga, Katie Chang, Claire Julien, and Israel Broussard play teens as familiar with couture fashion and exclusive nightclubs as they are with drugs and gangster rap. Read More

Remember when we posted those sweet pics of Madonna from the ‘80s?Well, this might be even better...
That’s RuPaul, posing at the Northside High School Prom in Atlanta, 1983! (He was born in 1960, so this was probably his date’s prom, not his.)Swallowtail jacket, leather fingerless gloves, satin pants... and a single feather earring? Fabulous, as usual. Read More

In their latest New-York-themed issue, The Hollywood Reporter released a list of 35 Most Powerful People in Media. Of course, we just had to know - Where 'dem girls at? To my surprise, Oprah was not on the list. There were, however, fifteen female contenders of equal caliber.
Let's take a moment to reminisce: It was 1974 when Barbara Walters became the first female co-host in network news. (Barb, by the way, is still on the list.) Today, seeing celebrated women executives, anchors, and chairs makes us want to jump up and down in our seats. Read More

Today the Oscars producers released the final list of presenters and performers for the February 24th broadcast. Apparently there’s going to be a celebration of movie musicals featuring Jennifer Hudson from Dreamgirls, Catherine Zeta-Jones representing Chicago, and basically the entire cast of Les Misérables. As long as Anne Hathaway doesn’t debut her own tearful rendition of “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going,” this should be an all-around win. Read More

Twitter brings celebrities closer, removing the filter of publicists and managers with sometimes disastrous results…and sometimes amazing ones. Yesterday, celebrities Tweeted and Instagrammed their Halloween costumes like the rest of us, sharing some adorable, hilarious, and frightening pics with the rest of the world.
The best of the bunch has to be Neil Patrick Harris’s and David Burtka’s family’s adorable Wizard of Oz costumes (above), but there are plenty of other amazing celeb costumes. Read More

News broke yesterday that Kristen Stewart is not just involved in a fictional love triangle with a werewolf and a vampire. In fact, she is the tip of an all too real equilateral between her, her Twilight co-star/(ex?) boyfriend Robert Pattinson and the director of her last film, Snow White and the Hunstman. Not only did she commit infidelity in her own relationship, but she made the other dude an adulterer. That's right, he's married. Kristen is apparently very remorseful, going as far as to issue a public apology in which she professes her love for Patz. Read More
