Dear Mr. Trump,
Anything you say can and will be used against you – especially since you’re running for president. Not only that, but your words are a direct reflection of your character, and I’m not so sure that anyone who believes pumping breast milk is “disgusting” should be running for office.
You remember that, don’t you, Mr. Read More
In news that will make you groan, people STILL get upset about women breastfeeding in public places. In Terre Haute, Indiana, for example, one young woman was publicly shamed by a man who took a photo of her (without her knowledge, yuck) breastfeeding in a T.G.I Friday’s. He then uploaded it to Facebook and Instagram. Read More

We weren’t sure the Pope (whom we’ve now officially dubbed “Cool Pope” by the way) could surpass said coolness, but he’s just freed the nipple in the Sistine Chapel. So... We think it’s pretty safe to say he is now the coolest pope. Ever.
Last Sunday, he went to work baptizing 33 infants for the annual Feast of the Baptism of the Lord and encouraged mothers to go ahead and breastfeed their kiddos if they cried from hunger during the service. Read More

I’ll never understand the logic behind a society that both accepts the unnecessary sexualization of female bodies for advertisements and shames public breastfeeding. Seriously, it doesn’t make sense. The entire point of having breasts is lactation and when a baby is hungry, do we seriously expect women to deprive them just because someone doesn’t want to see a boob? Women literally have been asked to stop feeding their hungry babies because it makes them uncomfortable to see a boob. But, it’s a little more than that and we all know it. Read More

Warning: This post may not be safe for work.
“Scars, rolls, bones, big or small breasts, wrinkles all tell a story,” says the photographer Jade Beall. Last summer, we featured Ashlee Wells Jackson’s remarkable and powerful series of photographs celebrating the post-pregnancy bodies of a diverse group of women; Beall does something similar in her new book A Beautiful Body Project: The Bodies of Mothers. Huzzah! It’s an article about breastfeeding that doesn’t include shaming, ridicule, or a nursing mom being kicked off Facebook!Jackie Johnson-Smith had a very encouraging experience whilst dining out with her family: someone paid part of their tab. Because she was breastfeeding. When Johnson-Smith’s husband received the receipt for their meal, this lovely note was written on it:
“I bought one of your pizzas…please thank your wife for breastfeeding!”

As much as I support mamas helping mamas and I’m 200% for breastfeeding, I just can’t find it in me to understand these lengths that women go to for vegan breast milk. Alicia Silverstone has used her blog, The Kind Life, to set up Kind Mama Milk Share for vegan moms to connect and donate breast milk.
Personally I think its great that women will drive and ship breast milk from far and wide to help other women in need. I really do. And I also understand that women may want to implement a specific diet regime for themselves to follow while breastfeeding. Read More

Air travel is not the most pleasant of life’s activities. Cramped quarters, weird smells (seriously, how can there be so many different bad smells in one small space?) and forced intimacy with strangers can all add up to some ‘fun’ times. How about adding painful breasts full of milk into the mix? Throw in a rude flight attendant and public humiliation and you have yourself a full- blown nighmare.
Such was the experience for Indiana native Dawnella Brahos on a recent American Airlines flight. Ms. Read More

What’s the deal with Facebook hating so hard lately, taking down photos revealing realities of women’s issues? This past week Facebook banned Hildur Lilliendahl Viggósdóttir, an Icelandic women’s rights activist, for reposting sexist comments she found publicly posted on the site. Now we’re hearing that Facebook punished a woman for posting a photo of herself breastfeeding her daughter.

This week's Time magazine cover story about Bill Sears has everyone up in arms. Even though the article is about Sears himself, the cover image shows a woman breastfeeding her large child, and the headline "Are you Mom Enough?' seems to be screaming "Lady, you are a freak!" Even though the boy on the cover is apparently 3 years old, he looks to be about 5 or 6. Folks are saying this is pedophilia, and perverted. Read More
