Yet again, Carl’s Jr., the American burger chain restaurant, has feminists groaning: This year's Super Bowl commercial features a staff of farmers market dudes swooning over an "all-natural” set of knockers slow-mo'ing their way through the veggie stalls. I’ve long suspected that Jamie Stewart, the brains and bleeding heart of Xiu Xiu, could be the third member of Mates of State, exiled from their land of hetero jangle-pop to a rehab center for self-harm. While sterile blue liquid will probably remain a staple of female hygiene television ads, Always has taken a small step towards reality by creating a print ad that represents blood. Somewhat. The campaign, seen above, features an Always pad with a small red dot trapped (or neatly placed) inside a maze.
